update on the issue:

It's an Ark issue confirmed..(No ARK windows pop-up on steam).

Seems like Ark+Steam on Ubuntu (latest release) they don't go hand in hand. But Ark+Ubuntu on Native go hand in hand...Somewhat...(Albeit I get crazy Spikes every time I access something Ark Related, from 203 ping-jump to 50k which signifies performance loss etc. (This Laptop is 6-7months old; i5 2.3 ghz, 8gb of Ram, , nvidia gtx 1060 card so hardware is for sure not the problem...)

Is there anything to be done about it?

Will this change with the next Patch release on steam?

I am looking for at least 100 of each type of mat from Great Kirney (Q259 Fine Quality from Demon's Lap) which by my calculation would be at least 500 total mats for 10 Million Dappers and before anyone again calls me lazy, I am hunting daily for them just not as successful as I had hoped, which is why I am creating this post and asking for help. I am honestly not expecting anyone to take me up on this offer but I will never know if I do not try and if you are wondering why these mats, the obvious answer is for crafting purposes.

Lately, I've been working hard on the wiki with several objectives and I will give you as much as possible a brief overview of these missions and their progress.
First, data migration from Ryzom Forge and Ryzom Lore to the wikis of the five languages and Ryzom Commons. The project is progressing well: I have completed the migration of major pages like the "Fyros" ones.This is a time-consuming task but not so hard because the source information is the same for each language. Thus "Forge" and "Lore" are gradually taking their place in the global wiki.
But now I have another task. For those who don't know, the three original wikis (DE, EN and FR) have each evolved on their own. So I am setting up a system standardizing the templates and categories by trying not to favour one or the other language and not to alter the data of old or current users. I can say that we have reached a status that I think is fairly operational and welcoming for everyone: contributors and readers.
I was thinking of motivating players to use it by making this wiki a RP extension. I portrayed it as a library of researchers.
Here's my summary. I give Tamarea the talking stick.

OOC Events

We will be holding on a regular basis short OOC events throughout August, starting in a few days.
Examples of OOC events: find the thimble, mini-boss.
The rewards for attending will be new tokens to use in new Wheel of Fortune (that a patch will add next week). With these tokens, maybe you'll win one of the fabulous new prizes!

Q : What will happen with current tokens? Will there be a way to transform into new kind of tokens? Can we use our current tokens on new Wheel?
A :
Yes: the NPC will propose token conversion without commission.

Q : If it's an OOC event, where will the Marauders play the Wheel?
A :
The Marauders will have their own Wheel.

Q : While you are at it : can you make the NPC to exchange our ghost points too?
A :
Most points (Atys, Ghost, etc.) can be used to buy tokens for the Wheel, but this is only one option among others. Indeed, it is planned to add NPCs dedicated to the exchange of accumulated points against prizes (that's why the Dev Team has asked to stop points delivery until the reward system works).

Rewards: new system & new prizes

  • New Wheel of Fortune (for all, including Marauders, in their Camp);
  • New prizes to win with the Wheel of Fortune: new mount, new companion, new plushes, wigs.

Rangers gameplay balance

Following your feedback on the gameplay Ranger's current playability, we are balancing it. This will most certainly be done in several steps: the main modifications will be added during next week's patch, then adjusted if necessary during a subsequent patch (which may also contain new modifications if necessary).
  • Safety Zone Addition of "Safety Zones" at the extremities of the Ranger Paths.
  • Damage Significant decrease in the % risk that Rangers will suffer damage when they travel along a known Path and their map is up to date. If there is any damage, its % is also greatly decreased, and based on the current number of hit points, not the maximum one.
  • Access to Almati Wood The Almati Wood karavan transporter now sells teleportation pacts to the Rangers.
  • Faster Path travel Rangers no longer needs, to pursue their way, to reactivate their amber if they resume the Path they have just left. In addition, their map opens automatically so that they only have to click on the next destination.
  • Death on a Path Dying on a Path becomes impossible if the Path is known and the map up to date.
Bugs fixed by next week's patch:
  • Neutral PvP equipment can be worn again by Rangers.
  • Passage on the Paths impossible if the Ranger is invulnerable, PvP tagged, seated, swimming or riding mount.
Player requests under consideration :
  • Possibility for Rangers to respawn at entrances of the Paths.
  • After the one made in the Elusive Forest, change of position of a Path because of aggros in the Void region.
  • Other requests not listed here.

Marauders gameplay fixes and improvements

[*]Marauder Fame This is the prerequisite for the other improvements planned: the Marauder's fame is now displayed in the Fame window and automatically evolves according to the fame acquired from the various Civilizations and Powers
[*]Access to Almati Wood A new Marauder teleport is implanted in Almati Wood.
Bugs fixed by next week's patch:
  • Teleportation impossible if the Marauder is invulnerable, seated or swimming.
  • Fix of Marauder Rite (if completed on time).
There's still a lot of work to do on Marauder gameplay, we're only at the beginning. We have a long list of points to validate, correct, balance, improve and I will regularly report at Ryzom Forge meetings our progress on Marauder gameplay (as well as those on the game Ranger gameplay).

Q: Since 40 Marauders left the game this year and only 10 players remain active in this Faction, couldn't we start with something less discouraging than these TP prohibitions?
This is a big bug that gives a gameplay advantage and it has to be fixed. So he will be.

Q : Don't you think that having additional TPs in three highly contested regions (Under Spring, Wastelands and Windy Gate) gives Marauders an unfair advantage?
None, but a debate (without conclusion) between the questioner and the bearer of the preceding question.

Exploit and bug fixes

Fixes (and improvement) part of next week's patch:
  • Fix of several exploits.
  • Installer under Linux (no error 0 anymore). Already existing installations will update automatically.
  • Named Kiban "Naka" spawned too close to the Ancient Dryads tribe. So its spawn location has been moved 100m away.
  • Fix of crash when opening WebIG (Shift + W).
  • Mouse wheel now scroll target object instead of scrolling bar.
  • Fix of overlapping parts in UI windows Fame / Buy / Resell.
  • Fix of bad credit for self regen 26. WARNING : self regen action 26 costs now 260 credits instead of 250. Your already existing plans that so have now more costs than time credits [/b]will be auto deleted[/b] on your first login after the patch.
  • "Leave Silan" mission does not give two free TP pacts back to Silan anymore. Only one is given when the player finishes the Welcomer mission in a capital.
  • Lots of emotes now have an animation.

After next week's patch, the Kamis and Karavan altars of Almati Wood will sell teleportation pacts to everyone but Marauders.
Thus, all players will have direct access to Almati: Neutral, Rangers and Karavaniers via the Karavan altar, Kamists via the Kamis altar, and Marauders via a Zinuakeen.

Provide what I have (looted & harvested), and devolve it into what could be made with the items (2 medium quality axe, 1 basic quality dagger; or 3 basic quality axe, and left-overs).

In another idea thread of the #RIOT movement.

This time I actually request that the asymmetry existing between right+left hand equip+action and 2h weapon equip+action be fixed. (I am pretty sure it involves a bug in here, consisting in the left hand equip action; if so move this to the appropriate section).

What I mean is the following:

Say we are using the following two examples: 2h mace for our 2h weapon case, and spear+buckler (or shield, or whatever right hand + equip u desire).

Proceed by creating the desired attack stanza for your 2h mace.

a)In my case the one I use in my PvP is : inc damage eleven / acc eleven and the required credits. Create your action. Put it someplace in your action bar.

b)Then create an equip group: /createGroup 2h mace.

c)Then proceed by making a macro that allows you to combine the two:

In the macro do: Actions: Equip an item group(b)+ Actions Run Shortcut # (the assigned action from above a) ).

The end result is: the game allows you to switch from whatever weapon u had before (or naked), equip your 2h mace, and proceed with the assigned action with one macro. It will not try to requip the 2h mace, no matter how many times u hit the macro button; so essentially u can swap your weapons and attack actions at any time with the press of one button. Marvelous, I know. But that applies ONLY to 2h weapons.

The problem that needs to be addressed for obvious reasons is:

If you try to replicate a), b), c) with a combination of anything that requires the employment of the left hand (and yes I am convinced the left hand is the problem since that's the message that you keep on getting), by combining a)+b)= not C( C will never occur)

The game will do any of the following: either stop the attack action after equipping left hand item (thus eliminating the attack part of the macro completely, no matter how many times u add it to your macro, with Rev we did a test run where we added it like 30 times and the attack never happend)


If you try to spam the button (like in the case of the 2h mace, in which case the weapon is NOT re-equipped because it recognizes that you already have your mace equipped and hence proceeds directly to the attack action) the game will keep on re-equipping the left hand slot.

As such; an inconsistency arises.

If it's a bug; I kindly request to be fixed and be explicitly stated; if it's not a bug; I request to harmonize the two actions; if the second case cannot be fixed for various reasons, then remove the first option as well. However; I would like the first option; to fix it; and make it symmetrical like in the case of the 2h weapons.

I am just going to mention that out of the thirteen + something pages here, most people who want something to change are because they are familiar with the combat system of ryzom and how it is unbalanced. Evidently the discussions get side-tracked all the time, like this one, or we are asked to re-invent the wheel to prove our points.

Okay... this has become a PvP topic.. so let's talk about this taboo on Ryzom.
I think the strategy point falls flat .. . strategy is a decision making with the information at hand, when the information changes, you are prevented from making a strategic decision.
Huh ?   1st off it sems we are in agreement that INV should allow termination.   But please don't use my post as the basis of a thesis on PvP :)   I don't PvP, I don't enjoy watching PvP.   People who PvP and people who PvE have their own reasons for liking what they do... (for me, that's my day job) ....  But, I would suggest that your dissertation deseves its own thread.  Id hate to see a thread on the INV issue go off in 16 directions in response to and one of those 23 paragraphs :)Sidenote:  I watched one OP battle in my 14 years on Ryzom on the winner was outnumbered 3:1.  So strategy and skill must play a part to some degree but of course.   I would postulate that in a game, you need the roll of dice effect to an extent as if you have the same few on top all the time, the population would be dismal.   Nobody would shell out tickets for a sports event if the team with the best skill set won every game.Your oviously put a lot of thought into what you wrote, but to forward ya agenda ... i'd claim your own thread]]>

I do not talk about any other applications, I talk about ryzom client supporting desktop notifications. I already have ryzom client and working desktop notifications. It can probably do sounds. Why not to use it?

It be better for Ryzom to do it without relying on outside settings, i have desktop notifications turned off for example, anything ryzom related should not be tied down to however i setup my desktop environment.]]>

If we do expand the choice of decision (and therefore the information available) at hand,
at the same time, we are expanding tactical and strategic opportunities.
Whether by integrating new data, by analysing them; a ways out, and new choices/decision are

We are human after all, we can do this.

Of course, it adds depth to a system.. far too easy today.
So by changing this, it will certainly become more difficult, but much more interesting!
And maybe people will play to achieve (and be proud of doing it) a real goal, a real mastery of combat;
Without necessarily relying on RNG ( a roll of dice ).

Take the Quake Series, from Id Software; the gameplay is pretty basic in its core
but timing objects and items (like armor or weapons) by head, gives a whole tactical meaning and interest to the game.

Take the DarkSouls Series, fromSoftware; there is a gameplay based on muscle reflex,
parries based on knowledge of the weapon and its timing, and a prediction of movement.
This obviously requires a perfect mastery of the game, and a lot of practice
it also, allows the game to be really intense to play.

This is what we will call: " Skill " ( cf: a gameplay based on skill )
A gameplay based on skill, is a bottomless well of knowledge, you are never done learning and improving.

For me, timing an opponent's aura's; knowing how - and when to use ours,
guessing the last few seconds left on a PowerUps is a very interesting idea.
Wich would make the fightning system even more exciting, and obviously; tactical.

The Pvp on Ryzom is simply a control of resources, praying the RNG dice.
The jewels are not well exploited, and made useless because of a very low level affliction bug;
It also means, that a player with a single mastered skill can beat anyone in the game.
Where is the logic in all this?

Simply, there is no (aka 0, nada, nothing..) skill in the combat system on Ryzom actualy.
You do not aim, you do not learn, you cannot improve yourself infinitely to be the best, or outclass other players.
And the worst;
Is that you cannot achieve the satisfaction of a quest for improvement/inspection/analysis of yourself.
In order to perfectly master an Art, seeking self perfection over the top.

As you can see in other games for example, more.. hmm lets say.. competitive.

Since you cannot do this, you cannot "beat" fighters in Pvp either.
You cannot reach a high threshold through effort and talent, since everyone is equal.
( and that, no matter how many masters you get or how many natural talents/training you do have )

So you will lose 2v1, 3v1 or 4v1 situation, because there is no skill, neither in survival, nor in mastery.
The game is based on an extra number of players to win, and piped dice rolls (RNG/bug).

Basicaly the game restrict yourself.

And that's Ryzom problem, and even in Pve situation.
You finish your game by grinding all your levels for nothing, just for the grind.
Because the game doesn't give you rewards or a goal to be multi-master (and it's even more obvious in Pvp).

But, let us bring the subject back to its source there;

Being able to alter some powerups (aura) when you are under active Pvp flag is a good idea.
And can lead to a lot of gameplay exploitation, interesting strategies, calculations and prediction in combat.


Drawing a line between the Pve and the Pvp, is not a bad idea at all.
It could even allow the excellent combat system, and the game's mechanisms to be fully exploited and focused.

On mainland, while there are plenty of reasons to do missions, it can't be said that missions are the most efficient way to earn dappie. I compared many of the popular "high dapper missions" and found "selling the mats" to be more profitable than actually doing the missions.

So from my PoV, I like the idea that the risk / reward equation pushes the player to make an evaluation as to whether it's worth the T & E and to explore the lands and see what is worth their time and what isn't. Its oft said "there are no bests in Ryzom". There is no 'best weapon' or 'best spell', but there is a best weapon(s) / spell(s) for certain situations.

Ryzom is all about emphasizing thought over ones ability to rapidly click key combos and the varying risk / reward options are part of that transition tutorial on the mainland. Where the player is gently guided through a course of learning by the Silan missions, when ya get to mainland, I see this as part of the "weaning" process in adjusting to the reality that ML is not mission oriented....with some exceptions (i.e rites)

There is certainly an abundance of missions available that you would never be in a situation whereby you were sitting around idle waiting for all the dapper mission cool downs to expire. But do expect a nudge to push the player in the direction of experimenting other avenues... and there are better ways to earn dappie.

Now when it comes to fame missions, options are more limited. Many can't be accomplished at all (Kill a mob that doesn't exist in designated area); many can't be accomplished "sensibly", like "Craft so much ammo that you can't carry it" (sometimes even with a packer). However, if that's what you want to do, you can certainly not run out of missions to do that are worthwhile from a dapper reward standpoint. There's even an In Game App (/appzone 1852) that guides you to the most profitable locations for these.

In short, I'd explore and look for wandering NPCs, Overseer missions, examine occupations and other opportunities that are more profitable / efficient.]]>

These could be tied into using a Greslin Pick.

Another master bonus could be that mastering a region gave you more nodes. Just promoting the concept not the number. But to throw out a straw man, say mastering ...

-1st region gives ya +1 node that is risk free (2 total)
-2nd region gives ya 10% chance
-3rd region gives ya +1 node that is risk free (3 total)
-4th region gives ya 15% chance
-All region gives you immunity while digging to all PvE and PvP attacks

Ok that last one was a) just a joke to see if you are paying attention and b) to emphasize that only the concept being put forth; would need to dwell on potential downsides before recommending any actual numbers.]]>

1. In Windows check Event Viewer for Error or Warning Messages. Resolve if any found by doing web search of text describing reported problem

2. Uninstall GFX drivers, reboot, clean registry of all GFX driver related entries, reboot and reinstall drivers.

3. Install native client using the single folder install method. The single folder method will allow your current installation to exist side by side without issue. Many Steam users have found problems disappearing w/ native client ... have seen two identical boxes whereby one had a problem / one didn't.... it went away w/ native client ... no idea why.


For the Mac, it's pretty much the same steps using locations and utilities appropriate for that OS.]]>

I have just released Bag App, and application that allows you to browse your personal and guild inventory items available via Ryzom API.

How it works

Application reads your inventory items using available modules in your character API key. The only required module is C04 (Inventory) but can also wotk with C05, C06 and A03. In case you are guilded and your guild has valid guild API key saved in RyGReg, you can also browse your guild hall inventory (using module G03).
System keeps items cache for each storage (bag, mount, apartment...) which expires after 10 minutes. Every time you use Bag App (or other tool or you use dynamic icons in App Zone) expiration is checked and in case the cache is outdated, system creates new.

Cache or not?

You can prevent any cache creating by omitting all or selected modules in your API key. In Customization settings you can lock updates to prevent changes until unlocked again. In your settings you can select to remove all Bag App cache data from database. You can force system to run update in Item storages overview.

Known issues

There are several minor issues you must mind using this tool:
  • API data are delayed against the server. To be sure you browse up to date inventory, wait up to 10 minutes since the last change.
  • Some API data will not update until you actually log into the game, for example removed re-sales will remain in the list before you get message from the merchant on next log in. No matter if those items are not on shelves anymore.
  • Item identification. I did research about items and materials but it is not possible to cover everything alone. There might exist items the system is not able to identify (will be displayed as "Unknown item [sitem_id]"), categrize correctly (item will have no categories) or re-count parameters correctly (pay attention to crafting parameters). Please report all troublesome items so I can fix it for next release.

Usage and installation

You can run the application IG using command /appzone 1977 from any chat window or install Bag App from App zone. All suggestions are welcome.

Between those two, I would DEFINITELY use the R7 250. While the HD8570 is about equal to what Bittty runs, and thus more than good enough for Ryzom, I see no reason not to run the card that is 40-50% better since you already have it.

As for power consumption, that is going to be an issue with any AMD/Radeon card since AMD is not known for thermal efficiency. There's no getting around the fact that you will draw more power than Bittty's nVidia for the same performance, but it's easier to deal with that than it is to deal with bad drivers. For perspective, my GTX 1050Ti is listed at the same 75W maximum that the R7 250 is, while the GT 730 is about two-thirds that.

That said, the difference in wattage between those two cards is relatively small, and putting the same demands on a superior GPU will place it under a smaller percentage of load and thus reduce power consumption compared to the inferior one. Sure, the R7 can draw more power, but the only time it actually will is when you demand far, far more from it than the HD8570 could ever dream of providing.]]>
