Ryzom is a PvP game because one of the early Nevrax developers was heavy into PvP. He even had an idea to convert all of the surface regions into areas dominated by magical Spires that would cut off TP altars and rez points. Thank the Powers that never happened.
Late on in Nevrax's career the Temple Wars happened and then the OPs -- forcing Ryzom into PvP.
