Interesting idea --

I would make it so it crafts as a light helm. Boost with hp and the HP value (up to 125) will be subtracted from the gas damage. I.e. a q250 Digger Mask with 125 hp will generate a damage report of 310(435) per tick. That would be not over-powered, but still useful. It would require a lot of graphics work by the Graphics Team, especially since there would need to be four versions for the four Nations.

Good question -- would it be effective against Yelk gas?

Argument against: The "gas" from digging is generated by the Kamis. It may very well be attacking the skin and organs of a homin, in which case a gas mask would be useless.

yelks - sure, functions the same way to the "player"

as for the rp aspect, yes if we assume the damage is directly attacking the homin body, i still see the mask reducing the damage, because the head/face isn't covered

but.... even if you're wearing any armor you still take full damage from the gas right now so...

yeah RP wise this wont really work, it would have to be a special helmet item that somehow reduces the damage (lending to special pieces for the entire body)

OR you could argue that the gas only really affects us because the head is not covered

basically it depends on if the devs want it or not, if they want it, they can say, sure cover head, reduce damage. if they really dont want it, they can say, sorry it attacks the entire body and the mask wont help at all

I Also think, if this masked is used, there should be some malus from it. I just seems natural not to be able to focus 100% on the job at hand. Just imagine you dig under the hot desert sun, wearing a mask. I would cook your brains :)

My LA does protect from explosions, but gas comes straight trough indeed.

I dont think the gas is made by Kamis (lol, very biased ofc as Kami), it seems more like side effect for being too aggressive on the ground.

+1 for Blu's Malus idea. Perhaps it could even take away focus too. Not too much, or nobody would just not use it. *dreams of MA helmet*.

malus is fine (a fair amount)

@jahuu - malus will cause more focus cost (more for all action cost) you can try this using a regular HA helmet and you'll see the focus is going down faster

I don't know if there is a english tanslation but, in short, it's the young yrkanis running away from jinovitch by hiding itself in a carriage of hum well "dung/manure" (i am not sure of the word but well very smelling stuff used to make things grow in the garden ^^), and he was using some kind of gaz mask, you even have a opicture of it.

I was thinking like that Zoraï Sage mission HA sleeves/gloves that had -100 sap and malus. But yeah, anyway.

How would the mask be created tho?

-For craft plan, mastering one craft for gas mask that has malus sounds bad idea, but then it could have HP/Sap boosts too.

-Perhaps Faction Merchant, but then no luck for Marauders again.

-Hermit/Sage with perhaps some mission and afterwards selling it?

That worked well for Firestarting. There could even be a "Plan" that needed certain mats and that would then create a Gas Mask in your inventory.

The big impediment would be the modeling.

One might be that they feel the effort needed to make this happen would be better spent on other projects.

Another might be that they feel that such a thing would be so against Lore as to be intrusive.

I am against all improvements making game easier. Not easier to use, easier to play.

I feel that a lot of suggestions is just other form for reward. If you survive, that is your reward. All other is hard work on dangerous planet.

In this case, wanna avoid gas? You should focus more while digging :P And yes, it seems harmful (to game rules) for me.

Digging is already easy enough...
If your proposal would include more difficulties, I will be for it...

Like I don't know : we introduce those gaz mask but meanwhile xl and sup source starts to be way more difficult to dig, like very aggressive source dealing a lot more damages etc.

RP-wise it can be explained, of course. Homins, primivite as they are, surely would try to invent this sort of device.

BUT it should be balanced, as others pointed out. Either by adding +malus (you're straining your eyes!), or by making your node life & stability go down faster (you can't see too well).

Hi,

the idea is so far OK but IMHO the toxication affects not only the airways; for me it has also a netagive impact on skin and the whole organism. And what about the explosions? A mask wont help, or?

On the other hand I cannot agree at all, because of power-digging without the poisining or explosion effect.

So far my few cents.
