As far as I know, the highest aggro range is for kinchers, 23 or 25m.

Bosses of aggro mobs, most probably, have a similar range with their "regular" version. If you approach such a group, the minions will become aggro on you first.

Kirosta patrols in the Prime Roots have a special range of 75m. There is no mob with a higher range than that, as far as I know.

While it varies by mob from 10-21 meters, all mobs of that species have the same agro range regardless. The only mobs that have an altered agro range compared to their mundane counterpart is the much-beloved KP.

When assessing the attack range of creatures or NPC, one has to take in account several factors.

1. There is a resting state attack range, meaning that the attacker does not move, so that the attack range can be thought of as the distance between attacker and approaching homin.
2. With some aggressive creatures, there is a difference between attack range from front and rear. This is true particularly with tyranchas and kipestas. The rear attack range of tyranchas is less than a few meters, bit more with kipestas. But for most creatures, attack range can be thought as a circle.
3. Things become complex when attackers are moving, too. Here, one most be aware that there is a displacement between distance on the server and presentation on the client. This means, when possible attackers are moving towards a homin, they may start their attack though they seem to be still outside their resting state attack range. In fact, it only seems so on the client. Conversely, a follower of aggressive mobs may appear to be inside their attack range, and they do not attack though, simply because they already moved outside it.

The range was determined by approaching each mob 1m at a time and waiting for it to attack (... much DP was gained in the effort :) ..., and then repeating it 4 more times. Many factors play into this and I have seen discrepancies mostly between aggressive mobs up top and their PR counterparts.

There's also the issue of server lag which, as you have probably noticed, you will be getting hit by mobs when they way out on the edge of your 50m compass range. This is because the mob's position as shown on your screen is a tiume lapse behind when the server sent out that position.

In addition, some are inconsistent, and some even differ between regions and some have chnaged over time .... KP for example, has fallen into all of those categories.

Not in any controlled experiment sense, but Daomei is correct in saying that some mobs do have a more directional agro range than others. Not all, but some.

OK, so "aggro range" is generally a maximum.
Sounds good for my purposes, since my "mission" is to avoid "evil chewing critters"

I generally allow 25m to compensate for lag, though I'll get a bit closer to mobs renowned for their blindness, like Tyranchas. There are also mobs that are easy enough to outrun that I may provoke a spawn of them so that no additional agro will lock on to me, but it took much trial and some epic failures to acquire that skill, so I wouldn't advise it.
