Hello!

As part of a discussion about the number of players currently online, I did think of a way to estimate that number. Steam does show its data for all players currently using Steam to run Ryzom, and if we knew the proportion of Steam:Static clients we could use that to estimate the total number of players online.

Steam only counts the stuff you downloaded from them, right? I have added the standalone client to my list of game manually, and labeled it Ryzom, but I have this feeling it won't count.

Well, even in that case, I dont want to count a hundred or so player names :P

But a command for players connected should be feasable, although pretty useless aside from curiosity's sake.

Perhaps keep in mind that players from steam have their own forums not only ryzom's one. It could modify the ratio

Only way I can see to do this now is have a player in every region and all do the /who at the same time.

Good point. And it's a bit more obfuscated since not all players go to the game forums anyways.
