A recent "free to play" email got my attention and made me think about coming back to Ryzom. After finding out that the marketing people have redefined the common usage of "free to play", I thought that I'd sign back up for a month and see how Atys is doing these days and to see if any of my old guildies returned.

However, I was surprised to find that we're still limited to Bibit and PAYBYCASH.

Both of these services throw up fraud protection warnings with the credit card companies and I have to keep responding to calls to confirm that the charges are legitimate.

Is there any chance that you can add other payment options? 95% of online merchants offer Paypal. Google Checkout and BillMeLater are at around 33% and Amazon Payments is around 10%. Bibit and PAYBYCASH don't even show up on the stats.

If you really wanted to be "bleeding edge" you could allow payment by Bitcoin and then we'd have the option of converting real cash through whatever service we were most comfortable with.

Bibit is just a creditcard processor...
PBC is a standard way to buy gametime for mmos in many places, doesn't require a creditcard (can even be bought in some countries in stores).
The problem with all the services you mention is the very high fees they demand and/or security (especially with paypal, which isn't very reliable or trustworthy at all).
Amazon moreover is only available in a very few countries, none of them in Europe afaik. In fact, WG might not even be able to get an account to use the service.

Amazon payments is actually available in Germany and the UK - the bigger problem though is that one needs an account on the sepcific platform. so having a amazon.com account doesn't make it possible to pay on amazon.de (weird, isn't it?)

Amazon is run as different companies in each country, so not that surprising.
Even with identical account names and emails, the accounts are strictly separate.

That isn't correct, I use amazon accounts in three different countries, and all share the same address book and credit card information. I also know that I need to verify credit card information only once changed, and theses changes are valid in all three shops at once.

That must have changed then. Last time I got a new credit card I had to update my information separately in the US, UK, and Germany.
Same with when I moved a few years ago and thus my address changed.

I moved last year, and entered new credit card information last year as well, so my experience is quite recent. And I am 100% sure that I didn't synced all entries manually :)

So I would like to see paying options like Amazon payment or PayPal added to Ryzom.

I haven't paid yet, but I'd certainly like to use something common like PayPal if I do. I'm not sure I've even heard of the two post #1 lists.
