I too, started on Windermeer server. And yes the merger meant meeting many new players which was wonderful. Unfortunately, my first order of business after merge was dealing with a forced change of guild name. Seems our guild name was in violation of future content that was never brought to our attention until merger. This was not a happy time for Cara-Via.


I am certain that any future merger would create similar situations for other guilds and players.

Do keep in mind however that that was a long time ago, when there was far divergence in community, lore, etc. between the shards than exists now.

Heh, I didn't even think of governments until Hjimbri mentioned it. Imagine what a mess a Taliari meeting would become if there's Taliari in 3 different languages there :P

Apart from the language barrier, taking into account that all three shards have developed up till now their own history line and have been introduced to different events, NPC figures or even mobs, I would say it would be a huge step backwards.
