This topic has been debated before.

However, I would like to discuss this again in the hope that something can be done so that PvP points are awarded at OP battles.

1. It could possibly encourage more OP battles
2. It could make PvP points (and PvP items) more accessible especially to lower level players and F2P
3. It could possibly reduce people farming for PvP points
4. OP battles are PvP, so why should we not get PvP points from this activity?

Mainly, I would like to know why this has not been implemented already?

:)

I never understood why PvP points are so hard to get and why OP Battles do not award PvP points.

I agree Corwin.

Im also interested to know why you opted for NO Bitttymacod?

Elvanae, that's a reasonable request.

PvP points were set up to encourage flagged inter-faction and inter-nation combat. My opinion is that setting up "physical" rewards like armor (and whatever else you can buy with them) was a bad idea, and that they should have been set up with a leaderboard strictly for boasting rights. That still wouldn't get rid of farming, of course, but it would quickly become obvious who was farming, and who was doing "real" PvP and people would adjust their opinion of the leaderboards accordingly. Adding additional farming opportunities in terms of OP battles and non-consensual (*) "active area" PvP would be just that: adding additional farming opportunities.

OP battles already have their reward in the collection of OP mats; they don't need more.

That's why.

(*) Yes, it's non-consensual. Just because I have to run through Nexus to get to eastern Wastelands doesn't mean I consent to PvP, it simply means I've got an extra risk in addition to all the cuttlers and torbaks.

Some other games actually have a system where you loot the dead persons items. This makes senses from a RP perspective. Instead PVP armour rewards are a poor alternative (due to how little there is) but at least it's something. Obviously the uproar if looting was enabled would be massive and i'm not suggesting it should be put in place, just explaining that obtaining armour has some RP significance. Especially as your own faction rewards you for killing enemies (or alts in some sad cases).

A leaderboard would be a fantastic idea. I would love to see it installed and would find the amount of points Danny (and co) have accumulated. I think many would find it an eye opener, but of course a particular GM could find a way around having that displayed.. (Yes that is relevant to Bittty's developmental idea).

+1 for leaderboards

Winning an OP gives you the OP mat reward. Not winning gives you nothing.

I don't think that anyone should aruge that just because they have chosen not to PvP, meaning they do not have access to the rewards, then those PvPers should not have said rewards.

Just like with regards to normal PvE activities, if you are not a digger, you wont be able to get your own mats or if your not a crafter, you wont be able to craft your own items, then its fair to say if your not a PvPer, you should not be able to get PvP items.

The matter of fact is that the devs saw a reason as to why PvPers should have these items. What I am saying in my post and what I want to discuss is, that everyone should get PvP points from OP battles in order to open up the ability to get those PvP items to a lot more people including F2Ps.

ehm… if you are not a crafter, you can still obtain the items, fairly easy. Yes, you can not make the yourself, but you can easially obtain them, many people are willing to craft for others. So by this logic, even if you do not do pvp you should still easially be able to obtain pvp items also.

At PvP wars I give my guildies sap recharges which I have obtained from purchasing from PvP points. Whilst they do not PvP they can still benefit from me doing it. Your point is understandable but this is only because diggers and crafters are happy to share with others. However, If I want Supreme dug mats are you saying that I can obtain these easily without mastering PR dig myself? No. I have to trade for them.

The point is if you want many many things on this game you have to do PvE. I don't udnerstand why PvE players get upset at the first sign of a PvP reward which they themselves cannot obtain. It is only natural that there are some exclusive rewards and the examples I gave of digging and crafting (digging sups and crafting at your own leisure).

My comment was -only- directed at the idea that non pvp players should not have access to pvp stuff, but non crafters have access to crafted goods. "…if your not a pvp-er, you should not be able to get pvp items…". I did not know you could trade those items, and that in fact, non pvp players then have this access. So, that's sorted then.

The upset part I think comes from lack of things to do as a non pvp-er at the end game in combination with misunderstanding the point you tried to make. Goldens are guarded so hard that a kill and the mats are near impossible to get. OP mats are a result of pvp, pvp gear is a result of pvp. I just feel like there is already more options for pvp-ers. What about maybe making this Rangers thing I hear about a reality, with teleporters in pr for neutral players, have neutral OPs that eg could produce OP mats that only rangers could purchase for a high price. This was only to explain the upset part, not to start a new discussion. If this should be debated / considered, anyone can make a new thread for this.

That said tho, I understand the end game pvp players also want more options for things to do. I am not against more stuff for the pvp players. I would love to have more for them, like what this topic was originally about.

Both sides in an OP war could agree to get PVP tagged, if PVP points are desired.

Just a workaround, I agree with the original idea, but.. considering no official answer was given in the original thread..

I want to explain why I voted yes (though I refuse PvP for myself with few exceptions and definitely don't enjoy it - wishing and wanting all others every fun with it they may have).

I consider the distinctions between flagged PvP, PvP in PvP free areas, be it regions or arenas, OP fights, and duels, largely artificial. The scheme of faction vs. faction rewards is equally complicated and partially self-contradictory. As to my observations, people enjoying PvP fights do that no matter what brand of PvP they are practising.

Therefore, it would be more logical and encourageing to reward all PvP activities equally, depending only on skills of the opponents. That would ease picking of opponents in PvP fights and training and possibly encourage more PvP activities by those interested in.

Just a quick reply to MJs post- Tagging up would severely hinder a wiped faction in some OP battles that are not near respawn points. Remember once red flagged you can't teleport.

Oh and drogos as for "end game" PvPers and PvEers- do you seriously think that PvE players have less to do?? There are way less PvP options than you think compared to PvE. OP wars are quite rare these days, SNs hardly get a show and finding tagged PvP can prove challenging at most times.

Mobs, Bosses, Nameds, NPC Bosses, Mats will always be there to do. There are far more PvE things to do in this game and to be honest the playerbase reflects this. Many proposals that are made to try and increase the PvP in this game are often shot down by PvE players who are worried it may infringe on their digging. This game needs to be a game that can incorporate both PvE and PvP for it to thrive. Imagine if all the PvP players we have seen leave over the years had actually stayed. They need a reason to stay and currently they don't have one. So to all those PvE players who fight tooth and nail against PvP ideas- think hard about the game you love.
