Hi,
So Ive been playing a few weeks now and so far and I love Ryzom. The biggest problem im having though is I spend literally 70-80% of my time waiting for my HP and heals to recover. I play for about 60 seconds then have to just go sit somewhere for 4-5 minutes while my HP recovers. I always chose characteristics first so I have all the HP recovery speeds and all of that I can possible have for my level. I dont use HP credits on my attacks. I have decent crafted armor. I am level 55 melle and 48 off magic. I have 1,629 HP points. But even if I had 3000 that would just mean 2 minutes of playing and 8-10 minutes of sitting. Is there really no bread or pots or anything to making recovering faster? Maybe Im doing something wrong or there are other things I can do to help?

Thanks for any advice!

You are. Soloing.

There are items but going that route you'll just spend 70-80% of your time getting them instead :)

Well unfortunately the game is not very populated. If I had to rely on getting a team (which I have never managed to do, not once) then I would be sitting %99.9 of the time instead. I realize that its easier to get teams when you are a higher level and I look forward to that but at the lower levels at least during the times I am playing it is almost impossible. Ill just have to keep doing what I'm doing I suppose and hope it gets easier later.

One thing I would recommend is pick on things that are a little smaller, so that they don't damage you as much. That way you will spend a smaller fraction of your time sitting and resting compared to advancing.

It's always tempting to go for the maximum xp per kill. Sometimes it's better to go for medium xp/kill but kill four things (and recover) in the time it would take to kill one thing at max xp and recover from the damage.

The easiest way to gain exp solo at your level will be killing stingas or psykoplas. why?

These plants do magic damage only. You can wear light armor and save stamina. Have some guildmate make you some anti-stinga (lakelands+cold resist) or anti-psykopla (jungle, lakelands, shockwave and electricity resist) jewels.

Good stinga jewels are easy to make, good psykopla jewels take some doing.

In addition to the proposals made before, consider the water carrier and magnetic cartographer occupation. The occupation products therefrom give a healing aura for hp and sap (water carrier) or hp and ap. They are quite useful for solo players already starting from grade 2 , so it is not too much effort to obtain some every day.

I am really surprised to hear you say this while being a Monk's member as they have always been helpful with their new members in the past. Perhaps your times just are not matching up. That being said, get trekked around so you can meet up with other new players in the other capitals.

I always advise that xp/hour is better than xp/kill. So, if you are working solo, don't look for the 3K max/kill, but find something that you can kill quickly and not use much stats (or time it to be used up with your heal cooldown) and have at it. You will find that by the time you add in healing up time, you usually make more xp/hour with less xp than what you get per hour using the per kill method. When I solo level I usually don't look for a new mob until I get around 800xp/kill (at levels 1-50 300-500 is even ok) and it has not heald me back.

You can also do the occupations as Daomei has suggested, or check with your guild to see if anyone has already been doing those and they have some extra potions they could give you (or even just ask if any water carrier or magnetic cartogrpaher are online). The potions are best used for solo leveling so if someone is/has been doing the occupations they probably have some they could give you.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The irony is that 20 minutes after my last response a Monk came on and we did some leveling so that was nice.

I really hope I did not give the impression that my guild is not helpful. They are extremely helpful. I do think one of the problems is just time not matching up as a lot of them are in other countries and I also don't expect them to devote all of their playing time to little ol me. Just doing a trek takes a considerable amount of a lot of peoples time.

Again thanks for the suggestions and I look forward to seeing everyone in game!

P.S. I think my banner is broke. It always says I'm online. Ill have to look into that. :) [fixed hopefully]

I take it all back. The biggest problem with the game so far is that I stay up way to late playing it.

TIRED!

I've got several masters in magic and melee and I've never spent a minute sitting alone waiting for my hp to recover. When I was new I'd look around the city entrance for similar newbies (often I'd see them digging). Anyone that looked like a new player, I'd approach and ask for a team. I'd also ask on Uni for a team, stating my level and skill. Once I knew the popular levelling spots, I'd often visit them looking for a potential team. If I couldn't find a team, I'd do fame runs, occupations, rites, harvest or craft. I got 5 masters in magic and melee and never spent a minute sitting and waiting for my hp to regen-- but then I never tried to level these skills solo. There are lots of alternative areas to explore if a team isn't readily available.
