I'm tired of watching this game languish in mediocrity.
I'm tired of watching half-assed events being poorly announced and botched.
I'm tired of watching a handful of well-connected players gripe and grouse about necessary gameplay changes just to suit their own lazy desires - and watching Winch Gate cave to such nonsense.
I'm tired of suggesting, tired of complaining, and exceptionally tired of the general attitude of the established playerbase (and note that I said general, not specific, but by all means take offense if you like) toward a rare gem of an intellectual creation.
So I've decided that I no longer care about being ignored when I ask to write a book about this place. I'm no longer offering half the proceeds, because it's become abundantly clear Winch Gate has no desire to grow their intellectual property. Hell, I don't know WHAT they want to do with it besides let it rot and die a slow death.
But I know I want Ryzom to live on forever and the important bits are insufficiently protected by relevant IP law. So I'm no longer waiting for anyone's permission or collaborative input. I'm writing about Ryzom the way I want to write about it, and since no one wanted any input, then it will be I and I alone who decides what roles, if any, any of you play in the book.
I can already think of a pair that are getting prominent roles as vain, bumbling villains. >XD But I can also think of a pair that are going to get superb treatment within those pages.
It's too bad. It could have been a story for the ages. Now it's just going to be an excellent book that makes one person a comfortable sum while freezing out everyone else. Not QUITE what I wanted, but hey - the wife's happy.
And it's not like I'm completely unused to fighting an entire world to get what I want. So, if that's what it has to be... then that's what it has to be. Let's see how this turns out. -bp
