Is renting apartments a good idea for ryzom? (appropriate lore be written accordingly)
Yes. Renting apartmenst is a good idea for both f2p and subbing players

I sugget that renting of apartments be added to the ryzom game.

The reasoning behind my suggestion:

That way, an apartment owned by an f2p player could at least earn dappers for them.

It would also make good sense as a way of while still only allowing one apartment per player account still make it possible for well-to-do players to temporarily make use of aparment storage in other than those cities wherein they placed their own apartments.

Problem #1
I rent your apt, you get fed up and rage quit / delete you toon Aarrgghhh!! where did my tekkorn 2h mace go???? Now I want to kill you

Problem #2
You unsub, I rent your apt, you re-sub and now I have to move all my stuff

Problem #3
I rent your apt, but you already have stuff in it. Now I KNOW that Pink Bikini isn't mine!! So, whose stuff is whose?

I vote 'Not a chance' [Other]

Everone has an opinion, and of course are entitled to have one, but others are equally entitled to decide whether they choose to agree or disagree. Acting like a complete Muppet isn't likely going to change minds or win support :)

Only options being yes, yes, and other? heh....

Other. Nope, no way. I do not support this idea at all.

Why would I want to rent an apartment when I can buy my own?

I already pay rent... with actual cash money! If I don't pay my subscription fee, I get locked out!

@Bubbason - There's no shame in owning a pink bikini. You do you!

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.

What I do in my apt, stays in my apt :D

What all here answering seem to be ignoring, is the actual intention behind my suggestion.

Namely: that an apartment of a former subber contain valuables. A subber become f2p for whatever reason should imho be allowed nevertheless to retrieve those goods out of the apartment even and in particular while remaining f2p.

It is not necessary in all fairness to allow putting things into the apartment ... but the items already in the apartment should be allowed to be retrieved by the f2p player.. Please.

i only here first suggested allowing apartment renting, so that at least some usefulness of the apartment exist for the formerly subbing f2p player. but it is the retrieval of the items that i hope will be in future allowed.

Last time I did try (few months ago) it did work this way as you describe, imho. I can still see some test details in archive. Was it changed since?

It has apparently changed since your last try .... Trytrytry has been told by f2p members of his guild: Deserters of the Ruins, that they can not retrieve items out of apartment, nor out of GH (not sure about packers).

Very Unfortunate i find, that f2p players can buy an apartment, only to discover that they cannot retrieve things that they store away there. 8(

Voted other =No

The little extra space apartments provide, as well as the possibility of interacting with guildhalls are one of the very few things that motivate people to subscribe. Please lets not take that away.

Ryzom is not a free game, even when it has a very long trial period. F2P and Freemium already have access to enough game features as it is, imo one of the reasons they never subscribe.

And Apt/GH mechanics aren't rocket science... With some guidance and education, from a GL or H/Officer, the situations you describe wouldnt happen in the first place. If they do anyway.. All is replaceable.

Tryroamer, my experience is that your explanations are not too specific and your answers confusing. Were those "f2p members of his guild" ever been subscribed?

#13 [en]

Yes, in fact they were, which is why indeed valuables be within the apartment's inventory.

I don't consider 2k bulk to be trivial, but I do agree that storage space is one of the main draws to sub. As it stands, with all that has gone on lately, it's the ONLY reason I remain subbed; I need GH access. If I were not GL right now, WG would not be getting another cent from me, apartment be damned.

It's very sad to agree wih you Gidget (sad because of the reason you exposed), but it's also the truth somehow. And I believe right now there is more challenge to do in the game with unsubbed toon than with subbed one.
