I apologize if you misunderstood me, I enjoy PVP and don't consider it just "ganking". I've played in other PVP games and fought against gankers, pkers, and others and prefer to defend the innocent. Full PVP is about a lot more than ganking.
I respect your opinions, but for me the added value of PVP combat greatly outweights any negatives and I find it greatly enhances my enjoyment of the game.
Obviously no one would be forced to join the server, nor would it be prohibitive to host. In fact, the game already seems established for ideas like this with the Ryzom Ring system. However, I think the support of the official developers in creating an actual FFA PVP arena would make for a better overall experience and possibly inject new users and possibilities for the game.
