IDEAS FOR RYZOM


Arctic Region

:P I was actually just thinking about an arctic region the other day. It would be interesting. If implemented, I'd suggest 1) creatures there aren't affected by cold spells at all, but extra by fire. 2) Because of this, the general level should be slightly higher (fire's not available until ~100 or 125, iirc). 3) Camp fires wouldn't be absolutely necessary, but could cancel environmental cold damage in their area of effect, and possibly heal damage caused by environmental cold (of course that means this would have to be tracked) slowly. Do camp fires do anything but look pretty right now?

An underwater area that you can swim down into (thinking how WoW does it) wouldn't work without completely re-writing the engine. The engine is 2D, so you can't jump and you can't swim on more than one level of water at the same place (or can you? Though it'd probably be restricted to set levels like running over the canal to the Kitin Jungle in Silan). Even more, monsters won't target you while you're swimming (I don't know how hard this would be to change).

Though I suppose story could be written that the players have to attach waist and ankle weights, which would enable them to walk underwater, before going under only at specified points. I'm not really for it, though. I'd rather stay on dry land except for the occasional escape swim.

hmm a ice-land could be good, we can send all the neutrals there to freeze :D
Or the marauders : ) (I see they restricted access to the marauder part of the neutral section to marauders finally so I can't check if that's what you are - I only seem to recall it.)
