There was a similar talk about guild banners, on #ryzomforge. Paraphrasing: the current code does not support skinning objects. So you could not generate all possible guild color combinations, and apply one of them on top of a "generic" flag object.
Similarly, I believe you would need to generate data for each armor type / piece / quality / color / race combination, and even then, go through the pain of implementing the display of a full empty suit in game.
