Incorrect, imho. Once you syncronize with the artifact, you receive a message that you, the homin, can log into the megacorp site, and gives you the address.
So, in game homins just got something that gave them clues about "reality". I think this was not the real intention of the event team, but this is the result.
Gilgameesh sync'ed and the artifact gave him a link to the megacorp site, so Gilgameesh learned how to use "reality" to go there and log into the site, thank's to the counterpart of him.

The first part of your sentence is true, not the second.
You've found an artifact and feed it with the help of a big machine. Once synchronized, the artifact gave you a bunch of letters with "megacorp.io" inside.

And that's all for the roleplay homin part. Nothing else. What means the word 'login' for a homin ? Nothing. What is a website for a homin ? Nothing. The strange artifact give you a strange sentence and you have questions but no response for now.

The other part of the event (the website) is for the real player, not for the homin. It's a mix of RP and HRP event. This event break the fourth wall

Your homin can't acces the website because your are on atys and you doesn't have a computer. The artifact doesn't have a keyboard, just one button. Nowhere it is written that the artifact can display the website and let you enter a login/password (that your homin doesn't know). And the website is written in a language that the homin certainely doesn't know.

I think that the RP part of this event is just the first stone of a long RP path to the truth. The homin will have other RP events where he will discover some parts of what the player can read actually on megacorp.io

I'm sorry, but you fail in logic, imho.

If the sentence from the artifact was just a "bunch of letters" Gilgameesh could not in any way log in the website of Megacorp. Instead, Gilgameesh without any doubt, logged in that site. With some help from somewhere....

How he could understand that "bunch of letters" at the point to login into and chat with all other homins in Atys?

Homins doesn't have computers? True.
Gilgameesh logged into a place and have spoken with every homin in Atys? True.

Solve this puzzle.

More... even if the artifact contains "bunch of words"... who built it? who knows the existance of Megacorp.io and the meaning of that strange words? who built the request for charging the battery? the artifact exists in the Atys universe. Or not?
How Gilgameesh could understand what was "recharging battery" and "search for frequencies"? But he did both.

You cannot say, rping, that homins cannot understand the artifact and its words, because they did!

But your last statement in reality confirm my assumption: when you write "the homin will have other RP events where he will discover some parts of what the player can read on megacorp site" you are implying that the homin will be aware of the player, in other words.... its counterpart. That's exactly what i assumed in my previous post. Actually it's the only logical explanation to this event.

And the fourth wall you linked is exactly that: fictional character that aknowledge the reader/player.

The big mistake is to mention Megacorp.io from an artifact fallen from the Atys sky. You can't mix IC and OOC without falling in logic. They must be strictly separated.

If the event team wanted to introduce a new chat system, just use the Ryzom facebook group, that's fully OOC. If you use an ingame event, you have to rely with all the necessary logic, otherwise the event is, back to the point, non-sense.

Edit: a simple solution would have been to have really the artifact words totally encrypted, and give hints only thru facebook group. In this way, the player would have understood what to do, without Gilgameesh understanding anything.

Tamarea answered to our question concerning our homins and what they know atm, it is a good thing and now we have to wait till saturday to get more information from event team.

I have a few questions for all those want to include the whole thing in roleplay :

1) Maybe you can consider that there is a screen on the artifact but can you tell me how Gilgameesh (or any other homin) got the personal logs (ID + password of an account) of his player please ?

2) How can you explain all the discussions you had on UNI (or other chans) since the event knowing that all channels except "arounds(*)" are considered as OOC ?

Did you actually look close to the machine it has a display on it (opening it in gimp might help you see it)
secondly we got 3 comunity's here that still aren't merged into one wich i think is impossible and over 50 diferent idea's of what roleplay is so don't tell ppl what you think roleplay is and tell them what they do is wrong pls since we all roleplay differently. If you really want a debate of what roleplay is search these forums or make a new post and get your trolling on.

Uhm. Point no. 2 sounds a good point, but the point 1 is stated at the contrary.... is not Gilgameesh that knows IDs but its counterpart. As stated, there is an aknoledgement between the character and the actor.

Anyway, just remove the RP prefix to this event. As it was presented in the mail, it seemed a full RP event with a story. And if you are not aware of the email content, i can just post it if you want.

So, i understand that's better to forget the Roleplaying and consider this event just similar to an halloween event or atysmas event.

But would have been much more exciting having something RP involving the history and the future of Atys....

I got the mail to and I was disappointed by the turn of the event but I don't want to be negative without knowing more. I want to trust in animation team and wait till saturday, you should do the same :)

< above describes how I feel with this game and the sad state of it is. So called roleplay debating zorai notice board for over 1 year and so on .... We all play diferently and we all roleplay differenty, I loved the taliary debates about the rules of the mister atys on aristople myself that took les then 2 meetings. What tamarea did on an obscure hidden away forum post has no meaning to me at all and she has not answered my questions on CeB either wich just proves the sad state this game is in; why ignore some basic questions.
We haven't gotten anypatch notes for the last patch/event. Even when they add or change things ingame we don't get patch notes they added a new support button in webIG, changed bulk on pyr beer barrels and so on... Why not tell us?

I would love a q&a with the ppl running the event team atm and see what they think since I suspect a small minority is running them or pointing them into a direction back to the kittin and away from anything new. Making it impossible for alot of homins to voice their opinions while others can keep going on running their ideas and their event team for themselfs.

I've had CSR tell me "run your own event team" but you can only do this up to some point. The english zorai gov had such a great idea about a market where EVERY homin could attent to and buy suplies from being it fireworks, op mats from others or just q50 armors and the whole range inbetween. In the end they got a reply to run it trought the impossible burocracy of the oter 2 language goverements (actually telling  them to watch out for certain homins in those gouverment that would teh idea and never let it pass) and telling them this isn't really zorai but more something trykers should do (why? is my question isn't a zorai allowed to have it's own mind and ideas and that was the same question the english zorai gov has even if it's only ran by 2 ppl atm doesn't mean alot of ppl know and love their idea and every homin is allowed to join their gouverment and voice their opinions; maybe event team should ask themself why its only ran by 2 ppl atm and not more)
WAKE UP EVENT TEAM!!!!  there is no zorai or tryker or momo or whatever unknown npc hiding in the icon whorsipers tribe to send an izam to, you advertise on your website ppl can choose their own destiny and influence the game but at hurdle number one (mara entering a town without guard attacking em) you tell them to STOP. Instead of thinking around the problem. In my opinion a gouverment should be allowed to run their town as they see fit or atleast an event team should come with a solution maybe a market on an old abandonned outpost 50meters from town.
There are countless of these kinds of problems I hear every day. Do I wanna run the event team NO; but I didn't choose to run it did I? Instead all stuff is put into killing some kittin with termites (atleast have the decentcy to invent an atys aproprieate name instead of termites since if you read the bible .... (i rather don't get banned for spoilers here))

ps. Anyone who wants to get the english bible revision 9 (it's not perfect I know) can send me an Izam ingame and I'll gladly send it to them since it seems all the 'hardcore' roleplayers in this game have it and love to quote a spoiler or 2 from it now and then. Why should us normal folk not be allowed to know about the intersting tribes in it anyway (half the tribes they RP around i can only find in the bible and not on atys.ryzom.com anyway), pls don't read the 50 pages of tribes but just the intresting first pages and then from page 20 and so on. If you ban me then pls scan all pc's of the so called hardcore rp players since they all love to admit to own it aswell.
< Do look out since even reading the first sentence of that doc might change how you see or think about ryzom forever, don't not say I didn't warn you.

POWER TO THE PPL IS ALL WHAT RYZOM.COM SAYS we influence the game not a minority that want's to kill the game for 95% pf ppl playing.

Then they shouldn't have let it get leaked. Freedom of information. I don't see the problem as long as players don't start RPing based on that information, at least not until it's revealed to homins through the gameplay.

I had hoped this event might be a step down that road but seems it was just a new forum after all. Personally, I felt the event was a bit rushed. I was at the neutral spot and definitely felt there wasn't enough beer drinking going on! What about the karavan fashion show? Did any haiku's happen before we all had to rush off to the crash site?

Felt a bit like:
Ghost of Atys: Oh look shooting stars!
People of atys: oooh aaaah
Ghost: Oh no a fire ball!
People: wowsers!
Ghost: forget the party, let's get over there and finish my part in this event!

I saw one or two, when the "sky full of stripes" commentary popped I was like "eh?". Not sure why some did and some didn't, something to do with client generated weather patterns apparently. My PC aint slow but I didn't get the full effect, another reason it felt rushed and not fully tested either. Ah well.

Copie du post que j'ai fait sur le forum guilde :

Je trouve cela très malsain, cela fait que maintenant, "tout" peut être lu de l'extérieur, ça ressemble un peu à du flicage, la possibilité d'être surveillé sans cesse ...
Un guildoux, absent depuis 6 mois ou un an, sans abonnement, pourrait donc savoir ce qui se passe sur notre channel guilde, hors jeu.

Bien sûr, la réponse immédiate, c'est que si l'on n'a rien à se reprocher, la surveillance est juste ... ( le type même de l'argument totalitaire policier)
Ce n'est plus de l'information, mais de la "mise à poil" de tout ce qui peut être dit, même les bétises, même les paroles trop rapides, même les erreurs ou les emportements, tout peut être enregistré, et ressorti ....

C'est déplorable, et "anti jeu", parce que le channel guilde est quand même d'une certaine manière un channel "de jeu". A la limite, qu'on puisse lire à l'extérieur des channels Univ, c'est moins dérangeant, encore que ....

Bref, si vous avez des choses à vous dire, utilisez des cc d'équipe, ou des tell.

Pour ma part, le flicage, la surveillance, les intrusions dans ce que je dis de privé, ça fait partie de ce qui me dégoute le plus, me révolte. Aura t'on toujours le droit de dire ce qu'on veut, même si ce sont des conneries ?

Bon ...
Attendons la fin de l'Event, on verra, mais moi, pour l'instant, ça ne me plait pas du tout.

"Tu veux savoir ce qui se passe dans le jeu, tu te connectes au jeu", il y a les forum pour discuter de tout, et n'importe quoi.

Et je voterai quand l'Event sera fini, et que nous en saurons plus, de façon définitive.
Si c'est juste apporter une connexion web au cc du jeu, je pense que c'est du travail inutile, alors que nous aurions tellement besoin d'ajouts de contenu DANS LE JEU.

I saw one or two, when the "sky full of stripes" commentary popped I was like "eh?". Not sure why some did and some didn't, something to do with client generated weather patterns apparently. My PC aint slow but I didn't get the full effect, another reason it felt rushed and not fully tested either. Ah well.

I actually heard in guild ppl playing with some settings lowered or turned off saw the whole thing while others on max settings didn't see a single star or red ball in the sky but event was only done once and for like 5min so not like I can go back and test it.
