I just noticed that the overseer giving missions for craft levels 150-200 has the following two options:

I understand that missions pay out proportionally to the amount of materials you use, so of course crafting one single bullet is going to be a low payout.

Nevertheless, I would expect the higher level missions to give *enticing* rewards. I don't expect all missions to give 50k+ dappers, but I really find a mission for 155 dappers to be insulting. Please change these two missions so that either a) they out more dappers/material used, or b) they require larger deliveries (e.g. 100 bullets).

Thanks in advance.

(p.s. At the Thesos overseers, the average payout seems to be 600-800 dappers/material. To pay 155 dappers for a bullet is .. much lower than that. ;/ )

Just a thought...
Dappers are only one reward from crafting missions. You also receive fame for crafting too. Perhaps those ammo missions provide a means to earn fame with low material count missions. In which case, perhaps a low dapper payout is justified.

They might also be there to allow a player to choose missions depending on what they want the missions for.

There is no rule that all missions must be rewarding at the same level, nor even that all missions be able to be completed by anyone able to take them.

Learning which missions are good for your purposes is part of the process of a deep game.

Just goes to prove the Fyros are more generous than the Matis. ;o)

And we all know Ryzom is VERY deep.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

Bittty (et co) -- all missions at the same level should provide *similar* rewards. Not identical, but in the same ballpark with regard to player expectation. Otherwise, they become useless and no one is compelled to take them. Deadwood, in other words, using up a spot for nothing.

That is plainly bad game design, and cannot be excused by any sort of perceived "depth" of the game. The game is rich and varied enough in terms of choosing which craft trees to level first, discouraging one kind of craft by providing unrewarding missions is .. well, see the first sentence.

Btw, a similar discussion came about wrt jewel missions, so this is not a new issue by any metric:

I'm not saying to change the obviously underpaying missions TOMORROW. Just to put this change on the back-burner for that day when someone's bored and feels like tweaking the numbers. That's all.

Clearly we differ a lot in our philosophies of game design.

Are you actually insulted? (Is this a translation problem?)

Were you abused (cruelty or violence for the pure purpose of hurt) verbally or in writing?
Was your level of respect amonst the players towards you reduced (where you disrespected)?
Were you jumped or trampled upon, that is this NPC actively reached out to "say" something to decrease your fame?

Words have meanings, specially in a active, multi-lingual forum.

(Edit: I am asking as English is not my primary language.)

@Nudge : I think you should take this "insulting" as "The reward is disrespectful to regarding the work I did to finnish the mission" -> works for nothing stuff.

I would also look at it another perspective ... while Silan is mission oriented, it is so because the purpose of Silan is to educate the person behind the keyboard. It really provides no lasting benefit to the toon. Yes, you get stuff and dappers, but if you know what you are doing from previous experience, your toon would easily have more dapper, more XP and just "more" of everything going straight to mainland. Not that I'd recommend this route to a new player.

On mainland, while there are plenty of reasons to do missions, it can't be said that missions are the most efficient way to earn dappie. I compared many of the popular "high dapper missions" and found "selling the mats" to be more profitable than actually doing the missions.

So from my PoV, I like the idea that the risk / reward equation pushes the player to make an evaluation as to whether it's worth the T & E and to explore the lands and see what is worth their time and what isn't. Its oft said "there are no bests in Ryzom". There is no 'best weapon' or 'best spell', but there is a best weapon(s) / spell(s) for certain situations.

Ryzom is all about emphasizing thought over ones ability to rapidly click key combos and the varying risk / reward options are part of that transition tutorial on the mainland. Where the player is gently guided through a course of learning by the Silan missions, when ya get to mainland, I see this as part of the "weaning" process in adjusting to the reality that ML is not mission oriented....with some exceptions (i.e rites)

There is certainly an abundance of missions available that you would never be in a situation whereby you were sitting around idle waiting for all the dapper mission cool downs to expire. But do expect a nudge to push the player in the direction of experimenting other avenues... and there are better ways to earn dappie.

Now when it comes to fame missions, options are more limited. Many can't be accomplished at all (Kill a mob that doesn't exist in designated area); many can't be accomplished "sensibly", like "Craft so much ammo that you can't carry it" (sometimes even with a packer). However, if that's what you want to do, you can certainly not run out of missions to do that are worthwhile from a dapper reward standpoint. There's even an In Game App (/appzone 1852) that guides you to the most profitable locations for these.

In short, I'd explore and look for wandering NPCs, Overseer missions, examine occupations and other opportunities that are more profitable / efficient.
