Hi,

I hate lake lands solely for the swimming, wouldn't setting swim speed the same as running on land be at least a viable change?

P.S.
not sure if this one has been suggested before, the forum advanced search function is very limited(no topic title 1x only option)

There are more options than just swimming:
-use NH to port to the cities
-use tp's to port
-swimming mounted, is a bit faster
-use Speed Up on a regular base

For everything outside lvl 50 region, I prefer to stick to the ports, there are already too many of my former meks around in the lakes. ;)

More swimming speed would not hurt me at all.
But it would also not be very useful for me.

How about reduce (maybe half) the cool-down of Speed Up?
That would be way more useful for me, because it can be used everywhere. :)

Adding aquatic mount, with more speed than mektoub, could be nice to, aside adding a mount slot maybe.

Or a speed stanza dedicated to swimming.

But not directly upgrading the character speed. swimming is intented to be slower than running on ground.

(or but that's even more more more work and would take to much time, but if someone take on it's time to look at it one day, to implement under water swimming :) )

Hm I always ask, where do you all (complaining about swimming) need to swim all the time?

The only need I see is to get teleport pacts or do missions. Is it really that complicated?

kami and neutral can't have lake city teleport pact.

for event or just to visit or get at some place that is not a city.

its quite a frustrating feeling when you are used to the normal jogging speed on land and then have to swim.

i get that speed, speeds it up a little but thats not really viable at a lower level as the distance traveled is also much lower then when you would have used it jogging on land and the cooldown.

THAT is why I dislike the lakes.
And because I am a ... hmmm.... cheap b@st@rd, I don't like paying for TPs if I don't need to.......

Maybe I don't understand what you mean, but as neutral I have a lot of pacts in lakes. And New horizons in cities.

On the other hand, as kami or marauder, you can't expect that everything will be easy in karavan region.

Every ecosystem has its own specifics, swimming in lakes is slow but there is a plenty of water you are safe in. Deal with it. Or maybe you would prefer to live in desert?

what negative impact would equalizing swimming and run speed have?

its a quality of life change, im sure theres quite a few unsuspecting silan newbies that arrive in lakelands that would be frustrated, for one they cant really put out the dappers for every single tp/nh. nor would they have the tp's upon arrival and are required to swim to those spots.

ofc its not just newbies. i absolutely hate lakelands solely for the swim speed.

Where will this end? Ride on mek trhu portal, because mount/unmount is slow? Auto-pop other type of sources than amber around city because tracking and prospecting on low levels is annoying? Is the time of magick self-digging pick rising again?

Frustrated? And? I was totally frustrated of digging on low levels. Lets remove forage from the game!

And I hate jungle because its a maze. Someone should do something about it...

Sorry, I don't see any serious reason for such change. Being lazy to play the game is not a reason...

equalizing it to match an already existing way of travel is different from changing a specifically designed mechanic, like your mektoub example.

swimming and running are the same in their function, a means of unaided travel across the landscape.
a mektoub is an aid to your travel, like a tp pact.

everyone can swim.
not everyone has a mek.

a minor change like this is vastly different from changing a gameplay mechanic.
your examples of amber and forage are not equal in their function as running vs swimming is.

I still don't understand. Swimming is simply slower. Why should it be faster?
Because it's boring?

And to have a mek is not a big deal.

Part of the fun of playing a video game is to have fun and, sometimes fun also means being awesome, better than real life that may not be so awesome at the time.

So... I can understand why, "hey why not let us swim a bit faster" would be something on the mind of a player.

Personally I see no big down side to considering ways to make swimming more fun

I had to swim around for a rite and after that I never went back to lakes ever again, it was simply not worth it.

I mean sure I used new horizons to get to the 250 area, that's about it, everything is kinda meh.

A mount that can swim faster would be interesting, if we ever get the mektoub taming occupation it could be something fun

As to the poster, I will say that everyone buying a mount is pretty basic, it's something that the game should perhaps push on the player a bit more, because it is super cheap and even the most basic missions reward enough dappers to buy one

Still, even with a mount, personally I will not swim or go to the lakes very much and I'm sure there are more than a few people who would perhaps be in the lakes a bit more often if something new were added to allow some more access besides nh

My position is, "more is more" "more is good" "more choices are fine" "new is good"

Please support the poster's wish to see something positive come about from this and be willing and open to suggest ideas. It is not enough t o assume opening one request will make the entire game easier, we are human we have a natural inclination to wanting more

Also poster, QoL is a runescape term, do you play? :P

While non-Karavan cannot use any of the Liberty Lakes TPs aside from Fairhaven, NH is still an option. Neutrals, Tryker citizens, and Matis vassals can even use NH for free. I can't count the number of (free) trips I've taken between Fairhaven and Avendale without getting wet.

Basically, unless you insist on always traveling on your mount or with your packers, there is no need to swim. Accordingly, I fail to see how faster swimming would be a quality of life improvement.

@Moniq - I admit that I would like to be able to go through a portal while mounted.

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.

if you don''t swim thats great, but why bother about a possible change to it if you never swim?

quality of life: will it make swimming less frustrating for the swimmers? yes.
