Hello everyone. I am a new player and this is my first topic.

If this idea has been posted elsewhere I apologize for reposting, and please redirect me to the rightpost. I didn't find anything with I looked but I may have missed it.

My wish: I want to earn experience points in Fight and Magic by fighting/training with other players.

(more in next post)

Here are my reasons:
1. For roleplay reasons, I want to be able to play a character who doesn't want to hunt and kill, and just wants to be able to defend themself and their friends. This sort of player would prefer being friendly and kind to all, but willing to defend themself. It makes roleplay sense to me that I should be able to do this by training with a friend.

2. Also for roleplay reasons, I would like to be able to play a very combatitive player. One who doesn't want to wander around killing wildlife, but who wants to fight other homins and get better by fighting them. Again, it makes roleplay sense to me that I should be able to do that by fighting with other homins.

Personally, I would be happy to hear any and all replies -- positive, negative, explainations of why things are the way they are, refinements of this idea, whatever.

(But not anything off topic, as per the forum rules.)

One more thing -- if you *do* like the idea but don't have anything to add, I ask that you leave a reply just saying "+1".

That way, if there is some interest in the idea, people interested in developing can see that.

Would take you millenia I think even if it's max xp 6k for killing a homin succesfully it would still take alot of time to only lvl by succesfull pvp kills. My guess is that you wouldn't get XP from loosing.
Atm you do get PVP points already when it's tagged pvp (none for pvp in PR and such wich is sad) with those points you can buy special gear and sap crystals.

In end I'm not against some XP fo killing somebody it wouldn't change gameplay at all but how would the game decide the amount of XP you get would it base it on your opponents highest lvl or on the lvl of skill your opponent uses against you?
What with AFK killing then or exploiting (wich already happens for pvp points) thats also stuff that would need to be checked.

ps. at OP wars you do get xp from killing guards helping.
ps2. you also get XP from killing town guards as a marauder (but some of those are extremly strong so choose your fight wisely some you can solo as a master and some will have you eat dirt in 4hits)

uhhh..... The point of PvP is using the skills you obtained after many hours day and months of training to use them to fight other players who are not your faction... If you have no masters id say your not ready for PvP and need to train more, We've all done it, so should you.

You can get magic XP, to a certain extend, by healing others (up to master in healing, but offensive magic would stop rising together with it rather sooner than later)

If it's enough that you don't kill animals but rather homins then killing bandits in all regions might gain you some experience as well, don't remember if the XP got removed together with the dappers back when though..

If you got XP from PvP, it would probably mean you could also get DP. That would be simply inconvenient.

As for learning by doing PvP, you kind of do. You get no XP from it, but there is more to PvP than just having a master. There are many tips and tricks and the best way to learn those is indeed to ask an experienced player to fight you a couple times and explain it to you.

PS:
It would be very nice if we could get PvP points in OP wars though.

Subo - at lower levels people don't have jewels with balanced resists, and don't have that good armor. I suspect it would be trivial to nuke someone down just with acid/cold/rot.

Also, this makes the proposal highly exploitable. Even a f2p can buy an apartment, invite their alt inside and train for hours. And if you make the rate of xp gain slower than mobs, you'd discourage everyone from it, even legitimate users.

Bandit missions do give xp if you are sufficiently close to the bandits in power.

Of course if you are in that range, you'd better have a place to run to so that you can kite them off and kill them one by one.
