??? There is a "Minimum" number required of votes?

What is that number?

AFAIK upto 5 Akenak can be at the same time and max 2 from the same guild.
Only 3 were running so "logically" all 3 would get to be as some have voted for each one of them. "Logicaly" If there were more than 5 candidates than the number of Votes would decide who is out...

I guess we can hand over the Empire to the Matis than.
2 of the 3 who ran have voiced the same thing that the people of the empire say: We want justice for Thesos! so the election is rigged and we are denied to let our voices the voices of the empire be heard.

This is truely sad.

(And it took them this long to figure out that neither of us recieved enough votes...)

when i stood for akenak i worked at asking people to take my daggers and cast a vote.During this election at no point did any one ask me if i would vote for them ,may be those wishing to be elected should look at there campaining tequnics.
Just my thought .

I'm new to Atys and it's methods of governance.

Is campaigning restricted to live meetings? I've seen no communication from candidates on this forum - is it not allowed, or have I just missed it?

For those of us not "in the know", who ran, how many votes were cast for each candidate, and what is the minimum number of votes required, since I see no such mention in the lore regarding the Fyros government?

Huh... I wonder if this is the first step in them just shutting all the player governments down because the powers that be have decided they're just not working on this server :P

Ironic that I should say that, as I think I'm possibly one of the only two players left who's actually gotten a lot of enjoyment out of the player governments, but then the fact that I think that exactly exemplifies how low interest in them seems to be :/

The calculation for the number of seats available for any session is not a set number. The number of seats available has to do with the total number of votes submitted by Patriots during the Call of the Dagger. Therefore, a minimum number of Patriots (10) are required to vote to seat at least 2 if not more akenak. A total of 4 votes were collected for the 2558 elections in which 3 candidates ran.

As far as campaigning goes, it is not restricted to only public meetings. We encourage and desire candidates to make their political campaign known in the Event Forum as well as meeting/greeting their public.

Public meetings will be announced by the Senate and can be organized at the request of Patriots in the Fyros Forums until the next akenak elections.

problem I have with what I've seen of the player governments is that what the players say is usually of little consequence to what actually is decided/results.
The Fairehaven Faire is a nice exception, being a player organised repeating event resulting from plans submitted to the Taliari, most everything else in my experience just has the players talk after which the event team (in the role of governors, queens, etc.) tells us what's going to happen.

Iala

I would disagree whole heartedly with your statement. Yes, many interactions are just information giving and I feel that this is a great way to interact with Events; however, the Taliari have affected the course of the events that were pertinent to the Lakes. Also, the subjects that the Taliari bring up and discuss have never been completely shot out of the water (except one and that was only after much discussion) - we just have to work at communicating what we are wanting to accomplish and come up with ways to accomplish it. There have even been many times that Events has helped us come up with solutions. But I can understand them expecting us to come up with clear ideas and solutions, I am sure the volunteer team (of 2 at the last event meeting I went to) has enough to do already and if we want to implement something new, we should do the background work - I mean it is OUR government after all.

In short, my personal view on the subject of player governments is that you get out of it what you put into it. If you don't put in some time and effort then how can you expect to get results?

I agree with Ini 100%. It's up to us to be involved for them to work.

I Agree with what Inifuss said.

The Events Team facilitates events. Sometimes it seems like a thankless task for the volunteers of the Events Team and yet they continue to do it for it is another part of the Ryzom experience and the game would be less without it.

Many events have branches, the path taken is based on player participation and player decisions.

It is the responsibility of all established players and guild officers to encourage participation in these events. Take the time to explain the history of these events to the newer players. It is good for the game to get players away from the grinding for a bit and experience another aspect of life on Atys.

Responsibility to Encourage Rp?

is obvious only a handful of the playerbase rp's
and is only the same names that comes in this
type of threads.

Talking about it is cheap. Do something if you want
your part of the game grow. Instead of having separate
governments and "fights" between Races get together and
do your RP together and stop this little petty things like i want
revenge or whatever is it that floats your boat.

and yes this is coming from me:
someone that thinks Rp is stupid..

Monje that just aint how RP works. When you RP, your toon has a personality and a background and ofc the race has a certain quality to it as well. According to Lore Fyros are warriors, headstrong, and often let a mug of ale decide for them, so it is going against Lore what the event team has done when the Fyros did nothing to revenge all the killing at Thesos. As a Fyros that upsets me greatly and my Ale often told me to do something about it.

Power to the Fyros Ale!

Well then continue to RP your way:

with 2 fyros, 3 matis , 2 tryker and a few zorai....

Good Luck your going to need it Rpers...

All I can say is it would have been nice to know these numbers before hand. It may or may not have changed anything, but we have monthly kami meetings and we could have coordinated better had we know. This said, at the previous meeting we did briefly discuss it and the conclusion was we needed to get at least one dagger for each person running...that way we can get a full set of Akenaks. Sucks when you beat yourself because you don't know the rules of the game you are playing.

They tried to fix the election ? I thought the pillars burned less brightly last week. Even Tryker warriors have visited the 4 pillars of Truth, Honour, Discipline and Justice. Good words for all warriors to live by but even more important for those who seek to lead.
