To craft something you need:
- to have knowledge (about materials/recipes/tricks so your item has some useful stats)
- to get some materials for the recipe (forage, hunt or buy)
- to know some crafting skills (levels for quality and to buy plans and options)
- to have an appropriate tool (that allows you to craft a plan you want at quality level you want)
Item quality tells you item "level" (1-250).
Item class tells you item "average stats" (refugee, basic, fine, choice, excellent, supreme)
Item plan quality tells you how "complicated" the plan is (basic, medium, high)
btw: I am sure there is many homins who will help you without you joining a guild first. Take your time before you join.
