I have not experienced it with my titles, but I tend to use the "real" ones gained by skill levels. However, my Apprentice Pathfinder title sticks just fine.
I would expect that you would need to have at least one save event to make sure that the server (rather than just your client) updates its database.
On the other hand if the support team hasn't been able to help you, perhaps it's an idiosyncrasy of your particular system?
