I suggest the mobs get an update to their AI.

Why don't predators of different species fight each other? It has always surprised me that predators will hunt and kill and herbivore they can, but big predators never try for even small predators. And, predators do not bother fighting for territory?

Kitin could be given behaviors more in like with their intended purpose such as at the kitin lair (Actually, swarms operate off a communication style called stigmergy, which is REALLY easy to replicate in code due to it simplicity, but...as shown in real life, it can display really intelligent seeming behavior).

More realistic Migratory patterns, and possibly, as has been suggested by others, to avoid areas of over hunting.

This is just a few quick ideas, but I am sure others can thing of better updates for behaviors...

different predators already specialise on specific herbivores :)
And if you look at other species, usually predators avoid each other rather than fight, unless they're forced into each others' territory for some reason (this ooc of course).

Currently, the system of whether a predator will go after a herbie is simply "does the herbie have a lower speed?"
