Alright I've only read a bit of this but I feel like its getting a little off course. I believe most things were answered but I would like to say a small thing regarding factions. Don't let other people influence your opinion or decision. Find out for yourself. You don't even have to experience both sides. If you hang out with some karas and you like them and they seem nice and helpful then join them and vice versa for the kami. Even nuetral is a good option depending on how you plan to play. There are also nuetral guilds that are alligned for only TPs. What I'm saying really is that if you don't have any real side you want then just find some friends and join them.

There is a lot that plays into whether or not one faction/guild is nice/helpful to you at certain times. Personally, I have friends on both sides and the nuetral side as well. And just because you are one faction does not mean you cannot interact with the other.

So what Amnesia is saying is that he couldnt find the help he required in the Karavan guilds so he converted to Kami. When he couldnt get the help he required from Kami guilds he made his own guild.

Well so it seems!!!

Just stay neutral until you find people you like to hang out with and go from there, cause you will find almost everyone has their own opinions. And for the record TPM was Kami alligned at one stage Amnesia :P

Also, she said that the Kami faction are a rather friendly community and that the Karavan seem nice at first, but once you join, you're on your own most of the time. Is this true in your experience and opinion?

People get very emotional about this for some reason I have yet to understand. You have good people on both sides, and you have jerks on both sides. There will be real experiences on both sides that have been good, and real experiences that have been bad. And you'll also have people on both sides name-calling just to call names.

It's just like in real life. Find the ones you like, and spend most of your time with them =)

You know, while I've ran into some decent people in the game (or at least they seemed decent), I have yet to make any friends or find a guild to be in.

I think it's from a mixture of not being able to find a lot of time to play and being so focused on progressing.

I know TPM was Kami at a point i was there when the guild ripped into 2 and some stayed Kami and left and the rest stayed in the guild and converted. :)

Anyway we have gone really Offtopic here, so what want to say that You do get help wherever you are and you do get used wherever you are. So i suggest to read up on lore and decide what faction to join because you do find people you like/dislike on both sides.

I joined Kami as thewy are the Original Superpower on Atys, and the Karavan are the Intruders who's never before seen material made flying wehicles weight down the bark, and possibly the noise of those machines when first arrived in numbers have penetrated to the deepest parts of the Prime root and awekened and enraged Kitin never before seen.

So please lets stop the convo about who gives more help who don't, and let him decide for his own.
I personally recomend read up on lore and decide or do like the Fluffy Bunnies, Be neutral but convert to either faction for TPs that neutrals cant get.

If you choose to go for a Faction purely for TPs and not Politics and whatnot, than i suggest Karavan. Yes you read correct a Kami is recomending Kara for TPs as 80% of the TPs of Karavan are much better placed than that of the Kami ( this shows as well that the devs were bending towards Kara from the begining)

To Prove my Point: In desert You get both Faction's TPs near each city, no any other land is like that as Desert got each city in a different region. So by being Kara you can easily pop near a city in 3 Lands where Kami can pop next to a city in 2 only. Than there are a lot more Karavan TPs along the way of Treks, when you trek from Desert to Forest there is a Kara TP righ on the otherside of the portal in Hidden Source than there is another athe portal to AoI (though we got the same thing in KoD Jungle). Than from Forest to Lakes you get a TP on both sides of the Portal that connects the 2 lands. Than along the way from FH to Jungle there is the one in Resting Waters right along the path, and the one in fount is not too far out of the way and not covered by agros like the Kami. Also in PR many of the Kara TPs are way safer than that of the Kami.

So again if you wanna join a faction purely for TPs than Kara is better.
