This is a very small annoyance, but I like playing with the camera in third person. Sure IRL I don't hover a couple yards behind my head, but in MMORPGs, first person seems limited.
I would like to have the client remember when I log out where my camera is relative to my character so I don't have to zoom out every time I log in to make it look "right".

hmm, mine's always in 3rd person perspective. Might be something in your settings?

My camera maintains settings between sessions.-Kil

Indeed, camera settings are saved upon successful logout.

Adaptation from "I have a dream" by "Martin Luther King"
I have a dream that one day this world will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all homin are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the hills of Fairhaven the sons of former homins left behind and the sons of former homins that were lucky enough to be rescued will be able to sit down together at a campfire of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the Matis, a state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my 64 little guildies will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin or the religion they follow but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

Then can't you just press V to return to third person view? (Which should automatically have the camera go the distance where it last was?)

No, zoom distance is zero. Should be fixed in next version as self compiled works correctly.

Hello!

If others are bothered by this in the meantime, I've just stumbled across a client.cfg line:
FPV = 0;
FPV = first person view, so 0 for 3rd. Of course this can also be used for those who want to default to 1st. :)

Camera zoom can also be set, defaults are as follows, you'll have to work out the units yourself :p :
CameraHeight = 2.2;
CameraDistance = 3.0;
Interestingly, these defaults are taken from my client.default.cfg on a Linux install (can't check UI settings on the desktop whilst playing Tropcio ;) ), so I'm not sure why they'd have got lost on your install, Karu.

How is Tropico? :p

It'd be amazing if it hadn't crashed and corrupted my autosave just as I was about to win that one bloody campaign island. :P

My config file already has "FPV = 0" and "CameraDistance= 7.00000000" but I still start in first person.
