IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Today I ran across the idea of making another planet or world off of Atys, yes I know most of you will be saying "Isn't there enough to do in this game?" or "You have not even mastered a skill, yet you want to make the game grow?". Yes, Maybe that planet could have levels above 250, and grow the skill tree a little further. I was planning on doing this by having the Karavans come up with the technology to be able to fly people off the ground, and into space, or have the kami launch some kind of fluffy floating pillow to float into space with. It would be somthing that would cost a lot to go round trip, only to give people with lots of money, a reason to spend it, and work it back up again. Lots of times I hear from people that craft " I have a load of dappers, and all's they do is sit in my pocket " Well, lets try to fix this a little! How about growing the skill tree for the people who have mastered skills, and want more!? Increase the levels on the new planet, to allow it.
Please give your thought of this.

-1 from me
I have always, and still am against raising the level cap in any way shape or form. It took a lot of effort to get my skills up to 250 and some of them I was not too fond of. True, I would love to level some again but others would be a pain in the butt. I wouldn't be against new lands such as the kitin lair is one of them. We haven't even gained access to all of it yet.

Never argue with an idiot; they will just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

Just because all of the skills are there, does not mean you have to do them all. It's supposed to be a game where you have fun, and do what you want to with your skills.

If you wish to create new lands to explore you should look at what you can do with the Ryzom Ring.

Why a new planet? We've seen only a fraction of Atys yet. Let's reconquer the Old Lands instead. It'll be a completely different experience: instead of pristine wilderness, we'll have eerie ruins of vast ancient cities, crawling with mutated enemies and savages. No working infrastructure, no teleport network established (that'd be a matter of ongoing server-wide event). Whole cities turned into kitin hives.

Also some more more possible directions of expansion: let's see the polar cap, perhaps introducing a new, exceedingly hairy homin race. Let's see the great sea, with floating cities, ships (both private-owned ship-mounts and NPC-run ferry service) and possibly even underwater exploration (walking on the seabed, of course - unless the engine is rewritten to allow 3D movement). And, as many homins asked before, let's see the Canopy.

A new planet? Bah, who cares about planets. We already live on the best of all possible planets :-P

+1 I agree with the idea of new lands. Exploring new areas is one of my greatest joys. Perhaps by having no TPs in the new "Old" Lands it could become the "end game". Add one region at a time (one races old lands), as found. Remove some of the PvP pressure...oh, what if OP mats could be directly harvested at the old lands ruined OPs, because they are so full.

I would be very excited to see the remains of the battlements and fortresses used in defense against the kitin...huge networks of trenchworks...the ruins of the old grand cities...all guarded by kitin patrols. The non-kitin wildlife would have grown to immense size and power without homin there to cull them...imagine the harvesting nodes after so much time without being harvested...

Perhaps even some hidden or fortified homin survivors, some welcoming the visitors...some very angry for being abandoned.

Would require several teams working together to explore

+1 Level cap increase. Adding more to do will always be better imo, especially when it comes with additional patterns and fighting styles...perhaps that must be found in these old lands?

For others, I am sorry you hated the effort of getting to 250 so much, perhaps it should have been about playing for fun and leveling just happens, instead of work to 250 so you could then have fun. For me, I enjoy playing, period. More content opens more opportunity. But, to each their own.

As for not wanting to level skills from 250 to 300 again...

I think it's a lot to do with how the game is at the moment, that you don't count in endgame content unless you're max level. Invasion events now are often full of level 250 or higher mobs, and anyone not 250 at OP battles is just launcher fodder.

I know I personally would hate to see the level cap raised to 300 under these conditions as it would force me to level again or be locked out of a lot of the content. The levelling isn't fun when it's forced like that.

But it wasn't always like this. There was a time when, despite there already being many players with level 250 skills, it was still possible to contribute to both events and OP battles with just level 200, 150 or even 100s skills.

If this were to return, I wouldn't mind a raise of the skillcap.

You should visit Kitin Lair as it's almost like you describe. patrols, certain death if auras are down, npc welcoming party, etc ;-)

Homin level cap is good as it it. If both mobs and homins would be lvl 300, then the challenge (or lack of it) would be same as current 250. Introducing normal lvl 300 mobs, but keeping homins at lvl 250 would be challenging.

same with crafting/foraging. over-crafting/foraging would make it a challenge.

You all realize that you cannot win the game right?...No matter how many maxed skills or OPs you might have? Just sayin'...

Many different ideas here, so:

-1 to raising level cap. There's no point. With over 60 skills to master and 8 different occupations (and more planned for the future), plus all the rite missions and stuff, there's already plenty to do in the game. Only a handful of homins (2 or 3 maybe?) actually mastered all skills on this server, so why bother raising the cap? Otherwise it's just gonna be like WoW. Each new expansion raises the cap, people rush to the end levels, then it's just mind numbing raids for the uber gear.

+1 to more lands to explore and new content. Which, quite honestly, this is exactly what the devs have been doing already, albeit at a slower pace if compared to the mainstream blockbuster MMOs. Wanna go to the old lands and fight the kitins in their home turf? Well that's exactly what the Kitin Lair is =P
Kitin Lair is pretty cool and has a lot of potential, it just needs to be finished and fleshed out. Same for occupations. There was an outcry for new content a while ago, folks felt it was better for devs to add new content instead of raising the level cap and that's exactly what they did releasing the occupations. More stuff to do without needing to raise the level cap. I actually had a lot of fun doing larvester and scrollmaker occs. And can't wait for that barber/stylist one to be released. More options for social RP.

Adding some new stanzas wouldn't hurt either. Maybe specialized stanzas, only available for civ or faction aligned, hominists, theists, marauders, etc. People have plenty of spare points to spend on those anyways.

Like this idea.. as well as the added lands to explore!

New lands, untapped resources, vast areas with wildlife and Kitin nests, with Kitin Patrols. And never-before-seen Kitin Attack Parties.

And no pre-existing settlements.

You need to tame the local wildlife, gather materials, and construct your own settlements. Hire or recruit NPCs to assist you with the construction; protect the NPCs yourself from Kitin and other wildlife, or hire guards to assist ... but guards can only be so effective against multiple Kitin groups. If your guards are not "enough", the Kitins may destroy your progress, or even your entire settlement.

As you repeatedly slaughter herds of wildlife, they begin to spawn less frequently in your settled area, and relocate somewhere else. Ultimately, overcrowding could lead to targeted attacks on your settlements and activities by non-Kitin as well.

Speak with someone at your faction's temple and plead for sponsorship of your new settlement by providing an ambassador who allows you to teleport to that location.

Who can construct a settlement? Guilds? Alliances (if implemented)? Only those sponsored by a civ or a faction? Would it be PvP or just Homins vs Kitins/Wildlife?

Whatever.. details could be ironed out later. Just know that the Kitins will not look kindly toward visitors, and will attempt to drive them out, regardless of who they are or who their friends are.

If you can't protect your settlement, your hired/recruited NPCs will flee (or be killed), and everything you've worked so hard to build will be destroyed. If you were sponsored by a faction or a civ, they will not be pleased with your failure.

Well, I guess a person can dream,eh? =)

I totally agree with Bryone.
Atys has the potential of beyond imagination and it can be sourced (easily), there is no need for a new planet or alike.

@Level-cap
If, I say if it shall be considered by entering new (old) parts of Atys as discribed by Bryone, then I would agree that the level cap could be extended to 300 or so. But I would like to see restriction when going back to the now Atys. This could be weapons/amps required for the 250+ skills are not usable in the now Atys, thus making it impossible to use the skills there. Its like you gained a level 55 skill but your amp is Lvl50 and therefore you can't make full use out of the new skill aquired.

I distinctly remember ( and i think it was in a interview or chat with the creator of Ryzom ) that the lands and races we have were only a fraction of what was planned. Something like they wanted to open 4 new lands and introduce 4 new races at a time, go deeper in the roots, and open the canopy.

There's enough lore that imagining the lands we have now as a 'isolated continent' would be easy to play on. The crazy fyros go exploring again, poke another hole somewhere deep in the roots and open a long since sealed up passage underground. That passage revealing an exit to another 'continent' that has similar concepts lore wise as to our creation and all that.
