GUILD REGISTRY

#1 [en]

TSS is not actively recruiting at the moment. We are getting settled in our new Guild Hall and preparing to welcome new guildies such as only TSS can. We do NOT generally recruit. Being part of TSS is done by targetted invitation ONLY. We are not aiming to have a huge amount of ghost guildmates. Should you think you are TSS material then please contact Soloicon in game. We do NOT promise an easy way in but should you be selected, our home will be very warm and welcoming.

WHO WE ARE
-------------------
A strictly neutral guild, The Solo Solution (TSS), as the name implies, is a group of soloists who share common interests, mainly self-sufficiency. We DO help each other and other homins alike but we do NOT impose anything to our members. Instead, we furnish an environment with help sources that can, by choice, be used by our members. We favor friendship, loyalty, self-sufficiency, respect for all homins alike.

OUR OBJECTIVES
------------------------
1. Give soloists of all types a united voice/chapter in the game.
2. Create a laid-back environment where exchange and ingame relationships can flourish while being acknowledged as soloists, self-sufficient players who just love to hang around while avoiding the constant nag of players 'NEEDING' something.
3. Make privileged information available to all who favor a soloing approach to the game.

OUR RULES
----------------
1. Have fun and be able to say: "I did it my way!"
2. Be helpful and kind to all homins (which does NOT mean you have to cater to all their whimsy demands).
3. Be respectful and polite at all times.

If you believe in yourself and your capacity to overcome the challenges soloists face every day, then this Guild is for you. If not, then know that we value and respect every type of playstyle.

There are almost as many solo playstyles as there are soloists in the game world. I am not one to argue on definitions; one is as valid as the next. I will therefore describe my own playstyle; you are free to adopt, modify or ignore it as you wish. It only describes how I view MY soloist approach.

*end of disclaimer* :P

DEFINITION:
----------------
Basically, I view soloing as a single player experience as far as the game goes. If I NEED to get help to do something then that game is not solo-friendly (if that is even a word) and I will only then and for those reasons only reluctantly team up unless I find a 'legal' way around it, even if it takes more time and is harder to do. Even if I have to team up, I favor being a higher level and NOT gaining ANY 'points' (XP in the case of Ryzom). I will do it for hunting reasons only to accumulate materials, items which the game itself does not permit to get by myself.

One game developer said it best :
"Sometimes a player might want to do their own thing without interruption or interference from other players, but they’d still like to chat with other players. So they go about their business solo while talking to friends in /tells or various chat channels."

Some other ways to solo may include one or more of the following :

- never teaming and playing completely alone.
- no socializing at all except an occasional hello.
- never teaming to accomplish anything; just to help out by selling or giving counsel on playing solo.
- never asking for any help but accepting freebies that can help you advance faster.
- never asking any questions; figuring everything out by yourself through trial and error.
- accepting all help to grind the fastest way to high levels so you can THEN solo hunt and make things for others.
- using a second account (Alt) to help you do things; considering you have to work twice as much to control both but still are one player.

MISCONCEPTIONS:
-------------------------
I've heard many misconceptions about soloists. Here are a few and why I feel they are misconceptions and prejudices :

1. "You don't like to socialize!"
Wrong! Some soloists are 'associal' but they are very few. Most soloists are fun people who love to socialize and have many friends. They just find it more challenging and rewarding to beat the game on their own.

2. "Soloing is not fun!"
Are you really telling one who PREFERS to solo that soloing should be boring to him? It is boring for you, I'll give you that. What is boring or fun for one player will not be for some others. It's a fact of life. Get used to it and move on... ;o)

3. "Soloists are just more stubborn."
I prefer to see myself as more creative to figure out the complexe ways to beat the game solo, even if it is not meant to be played as such. I prefer to view soloists as needing to be more tenacious and diligent in their endeavors having more obstacles and greater odds to overcome.

4. "You never participate in the fun stuff!"
If you are talking about playing the game itself, you are right! Invite a soloist to game social events that do NOT include grinding, leveling and/or hunting and you may be very surprised! :)

5. "You are not a real soloist because..."
As mentioned above, there are many solo definitions. Pick yours; I have mine!

*end of pet peeves* :P

OUR GUILD:
----------------
That being cleared, I have created The Solo Solution.

Whether you join or not, know that TSS has a great deal of respect for all soloists who have met with the challenges this playstyle offers! :)

Take care and may Atys share her riches with each and every player while favoring their own playstyle!!!

TSS is a neutral guild comprised of peaceful homins. We do NOT initiate any violent attack on another homin or on a guild's OP. That being said, there ARE cases where you might see one of our guildmates or the whole guild do some PvP.

OP Battles
--------------

As you may know, OP Battles are faught to determine which guild can own an Outpost (OP). OP's produce special mats and catalyzers on a regular basis and of the quality level of the area where the OP is found.

- We will never attack an OP, declare war on an OP, use force to acquire an OP.
- In our case, an OP can only be obtained through peaceful negociation. If there is any fighting to do, it must be done by other guilds in our favor.
- Defending ANY OP is acceptable to TSS because we are not the instigators of the violence, we are simply helping those being attacked 'unduely' when there is another more peaceful way to solve the issue. It has nothing to do with being FOR or AGAINST the OP or its Guild. It is a matter of being against the use of force to obtain what another owns; whether they are entitled to own it or not is of no consequence to us. It is the principle of peace that, in this case, we defend.
- In any case where we must 'fight' on the Attacking end, we can only go as far as healing since that is a positive and peaceful approach to the situation.

Personal PvP
-----------------

- We will never attack any other homin without their consent in PR for example or if they are tagged PvP unless for mutually agreed playful banter. We would then, in every case, rez such a person, should we win and they fall into a coma state.
