IDEAS FOR RYZOM

#1 [en]

Today I just realized that I hate crafting in Ryzom. It's too frustrating. When a guildie asks for a new set of such-and-such, I typically leave it for someone else in my guild to do, unless it's low level, because I don't want to deal with this:

As you can see, I applied scrolls before crafting because I was making my own set of jewelry that included some hard-to-obtain ingredients and wanted to minimize degrades. Naturally, my first craft was a degrade. It's like the game slapping me in the face and saying 'not today satan.' I know this is only one example and you'd likely want a thousand mixes to provide a good sample space for results. I simply don't have time for that.For Spirit of the Bark we obtain Atys Specialization.

In line with that little perk, I propose that Spirit of Creation obtain a small bump of +5% at master level - thusly from 85% -> 90%. Even when applying a +60 scroll, it will land at 96%. Still lower than 100%, which I know you would never ever allow in this game.

Pros: People may choose to craft more often if their chances were slightly improved with this small perk. It may also give people an incentive to obtain the title and achievement.

Of all the complaints I hear in this game, the one I hear most is degrades during crafting.

This is a pretty decent bonus.
Although one also need to invest a lot of effort to obtain the Spirit of Creation.
Anyway, because of this, some other bonuses need to be invented for other Spirits: almost anything for the Spirit of Arcane (since it's the easiest Spirit) and something a bit noticeble for Spirit of War.

I was going to propose the same thing, and you beat me to it.

Great idea!

It can be so depressing to finally gather the materials for new shiny stuff only for the action to be a partial failure...

Alternatively this could be a +5% for masters of that specific item craft and maybe +7 or so for Spirits of Creation.

Additionally, it has been pointed out many times that Scrolls could (mixed data) negatively impact success rates.. Maybe fix that too?

I wasn't aware of that my fair guildie.

I'll have to find it but another thread listed a few bennies for obtaining a Spirit Title have been discussed.

For Digging:

1. One of them was Knowledge 4 which will also tell us the number of nodes in a mat. Often I will arrive at a spot which another person or team just recently left and the node counts have been knocked down from source depletion. Hate landing on one of the 12's when there's still 18s in the area.. and oh yeah, this will only be seen by the person casting.

2. A 2nd was +6 Focus Credit so you can use both Rate 6 Gentle and Speed 6 Gentle.

For Crafting:

3. There's two ways of looking at this ...
a) +7 boost takes us from 85 to 92 % which is an increase of only 8%... not all that impressive is it ?

b) But look at it the other way and it takes your failure rate from 15 % to 8% ... almost a 50% reduction in the number of failures.

There was always something screwy with the increased success % ... IIRC, the boost that you see when when you rt clik and look at INFO was twice what you actually got. I never used a Q60 scroll, just Q70s. And Info says that it boosts the quality of the craft by +14 ... actually it's only half of what it says under Info.

https://en.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Occupation_Products

One could make a good living selling Q70 scrolls... back in the day, if my memory hasn't failed was about 100k per scroll.

If you obtain a Spirit of Creation Title (SoC), I'd prefer to see the "bonus" not be a set +5% as it gives the same bonus to everyone w/o the title for all scrolls up to Q50.   So as not to devaluate the T & E put into the Scrollmaker Occupation, consider applying the bonus to the scroll

Q10 = +1 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 1.5% (86.5%)
Q20 = +2 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 3.0% (88.0%)
Q30 = +3 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 4.5% (89.5%)
Q40 = +4 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 6.0% (91.0%)
Q50 = +5 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 7.5% (92.5%)
Q60 = +6 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 9.0% (94.0%)
Q70 = +7 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 10.5% (95.5%)

Whereas I see the point of making the Occupation products better, the idea is to make the effort for being a Spirit of Creation worthy so any improvement should be aimed at the craft and not at occupation products, which a Spirit of Creation may not even be able to produce.

Just my opinion.

I think you missed the point; .... or perhaps I didn't explain it well. The premise starts with with the words:

"If you obtain a Spirit of Creation Title (SoC)..."

So, if you don't get an SoC you don't get anything; everything remains as is.

Without   the Spirit of Creation you get this:
Q10 = +1 .... x 1.0 w/o SoC = + 1.0% (86.0%)
Q20 = +2 .... x 1.0 w/o SoC = + 3.0% (87.0%)
Q30 = +3 .... x 1.0 w/o SoC = + 3.0% (88.5%)
Q40 = +4 .... x 1.0 w/o SoC = + 4.0% (89.0%)
Q50 = +5 .... x 1.0 w/o SoC = + 5.0% (90.0%)
Q60 = +6 .... x 1.0 w/o SoC = + 6.0% (91.0%)
Q70 = +7 .... x 1.0 w/o SoC = + 7.0% (92.0%)

With   the Spirit of Creation you get this:
Q10 = +1 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 1.5% (86.5%)
Q20 = +2 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 3.0% (88.0%)
Q30 = +3 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 4.5% (89.5%)
Q40 = +4 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 6.0% (91.0%)
Q50 = +5 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 7.5% (92.5%)
Q60 = +6 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 9.0% (94.0%)
Q70 = +7 .... x 1.5 w/ SoC = + 10.5% (95.5%)[b]

Nevermind my request. It doesn't matter. I was doing an overseer mission where i needed to make 3 Q240 bucklers. I had two degrades for the three bucklers that I needed to make and it was at 95%. If I can still get two degrades for three mixes then crafting in this game is far more broken than I thought. Adding 5% here or there will yield negative improvement. The math in this game is wonked.

I retract my proposal negative -100. Please retract this thread and archive it into -100 oblivion.

Then it should be set so that the 'Lucky Flowers' (from the Water Carrier business) can also be used for missions related to crafting.
And/or the 'Amber of Protection' (from the Magnetic Cartographer business) with the effect of reducing the chance of degradation of a crafted item up to 0. Also only for missions related to crafting.

There shouldn't be any degrades at all at master level.
Thats what f'ing MASTER means.

A brief explanation of the scrolls Ulukyn had detailed on Uni.

Ulukyn
Parchment does not increase craft success %.
It's because the effect is poorly understood (or poorly explained).

A q60 scroll modifies the "craft skill" by 12 skill points, not the success.
Basically, if you're 250 in craft, it raises your level to 262.

So 250 which craft Q250 is 85%.

- a parchment q60 is + 12
you raise your level to 262, you're at +12, that gives you 91%.
-improved scrolls q70 is +14 gives 92%.

you'd have to be level 280 to crafter at 100%.

If you craft from Q240, your +12 scroll will give you 96% instead of 90%.
and if you craft the Q230 with +12 it gives 100% instead of 95%.

Thanks for the explanation @Erenkyl - that's good to know, and often not well explained :)

To simplfy the math in your head ... take half the No. on the info box.

The Q60) (+12 in level) scroll's impact giving you the+12lecel willin effect increase the resukt by ha;f that from 85% + 6 to 21%

The Q790 (+14 in level) scroll's impact giving you the+12lecel willin effect increase the resukt by ha;f that from 85% + 7 to 21%. As to the luck of the draw .... yes, it's possible to flip a coin and get 10 heads in a row. But the chances on No. 11 would still be 50%.

I have been burned with multiple failures...I have also be lucky and gotten 3 boosts out of 4 when using rubbarn.
