I get variations of the following error when i do the following: teleport, switch character, exit on login screen.

Access Violation exception generated at 0x4AF617A6, thread attempts to read at 0x98.
The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.

not every teleport though, i got it a few times yesterday and sometimes it was fine.

i verified game files, cleared cache, save and user folder.

I am also crashing most of the time I either change characters or simply TP.  And when reloogging and it says "You still in game", hittng the red X exit button crashes me again

Can you provide more details like platform and language?

My Linux x64 / EN client has frozen several times recently when switching characters.

If it's music related, that may be fixed in Ryzom Core now...

Crash on exit/switch char is from (my) mistake of not clearing up cooldown timer text instances (inv, speed, etc).

Fill be fixed on next client patch.

Crash on teleport is separate (unknown) issue.

Win 7 / EN

Tykus is on it, we spoke last night.

Not music related, but since K brought it up, has been fixed or is it planned to be where music can be where player stored their music and not in Ryzom folder ... I have 6 Ryzom installs.

And H, patches of late seem to be evry 2 weeks ... expecting on at end of easter event.

Not sure what you mean. However
  • The player supports some playlist formats (.m3u and .m3u8 it says) so you can use only a playlist that contains paths to music located on other place(s)
  • You can specify (relative) path to music directory in your client.cfg file, use MediaPlayerDirectory="path";, for example (linux) "../1/music" for client "0" makes it read from client "1" directory
  • If your filesystem supports symbolic links, make each music directory to be only link to place where your music is stored

The comment related to where the files are stored not the formats in which it was recorded. So not talking about *.mp3 vs *.wav vs *.shn or whatever

Originally, you would simply click playlist button and then pick the folder which you stored the music. So if you kept your music in V:\Music\[genre] or V:\Music\[artist], you could easily pick what you wanted on any given day. I also used to take files of our media server where everyone in the family's music was stored.

To have to edit *.cfg files every time you want to change genres, artists locations just makes it more cumbersome. It wasn't broke as far as I know, so why fix it .... especially when the fix makes more inconvenients to use.

So now I just open youtube on a 2nd screen or use any ole media player. When Ryzom came out, was using ShnAmp

File selection was windows only. I dont even remember if back then it was possible to use mp3 player under other platforms.

You also do not need to change cfg file every time or ever for this.

Just drop 'playlist.m3u' into media folder and that file will contain individual files you want to play. They can be any drive or folder you like.

There can be multiple m3u files and you can update them or swap them out while game is running.

Hello!

#11 [en]

Much thx for thge effort buyt ... 1. I don't have a media folder in Ryzom folder. C:\Windows\Media has only system sounds

2. Where / how is this playlist.m3u created ? No such animal on any of my PCs.

3. I play on multiple PCs depending on where I am ... each of which has music files in different locations. Whenever going to another location, I copy Ryzom 64 folder from main PC to a thumb drive and carry it wherever I go. Copy / paste the Ryzom folder anywhere I or PC owner prefers want and I play.

Create 'music' folder in your client profile in case it does not exist or fill any other path in your client.cfg, as described on wiki

I apprciate your efforts Moniq, but kinda like directions to install a windows program when I'm running Linux ... the instructions do not apply.  The old system worked for me ... these options do not.

Yes, the virtual links is a perfect solution for a single PC and a single music location. But, as i thought was made clear, that's not my situation. ... In addition, if yave your music separated by genres,  artists or who owns it ... in different folders, a perma-link doesn't allow to you to listen in accordance with your particular mood of the day ...

Monday I might want to listen to V:\Media\Music\Grateful Dead
Tuesday I might want to listen to V:\Media\Music\New Wave
Wednsday I might want to listen to V:\Media\Music\Southern Rock
Thursday I might want to listen to V:\Media\Music\40s Swing
Friday I might want to listen to V:\Media\Music\Classical

One option requires that ya copy Gigabytes of music from one location to another wasting loads of space

The other solution assumes that there is one location where these files are stored. Must be recognized that this this is not the case. I have two permanent installs on this account. The installation is "self contained" in a single folder and travels with me on a Thumb Drive. I update the two permanent installs, by taking the Thumb Drive from the most recently used box to the other, and copy / pasting the entire folder over the older one.

So wherever me and that thumb drive are .... whether in a different room or a different city, that music source is in a different location because all I took with me is that Thumb Drive w/ Ryzom folder and I am using a different PC.  Links to music files on other PCs are not of any use.

Example ... This weekend I am dog / house sitting for Son No. 2   I will listen to his music.   I will arrive, copy / paste the game folder from thumb drive to his PC ... what use will those links be to a PC miles away ?

I know where his files are since I built it, so with the ole MP3 player, I would just select the proper folder.  I understand why the functionality of using a virtual link could be useful, but I do not understand why the original functionality needed to be removed.

Too me, it's the same as having which weapon Im using or which armor I'm using in my config file.... Want to be able to change the source whenever the mood strikes w/o having to create "lists" .

Oh ... and back on topic:

5 crashes yesterday .... 2 on Charcter selection and 3 on TPs

I did find is that if i just say 'screw it' ... and don't try and log on / wait 20 minuted while making dinner or something, dont get that 2nd crash when it tells me "Im still on line"

Sorry, I can't help you any more.
  • In case your file system supports some sort of links, you can use this feature
  • Prepare yourself a set of playlists *)

*) I must note here that playlists do not work for me under GNU/Linux and I need to research it more to rise an issue.

You can suggest a change by creating a specific suggestion thread on forum, section IDEAS FOR RYZOM. By what I know, Nimetu works on the MP3 Player.

It would help if anyone who uses the player on regular bases would update the wiki page.

P.S.

OT still broken.
