By request ... this was copied from our Guild Forum

If you want to add screenies or images, this is the easiest method I have found from a "explaining to users" PoV.  Most common "easy" app is Irfanview and it works on all popular OSs.  Suggest downloading the add-ons too.

https://www.irfanview.com/
https://imgur.com/

1. Take screenie of what you want to post (Ctl-F10 in game) or Ctl-PrtScr on KB  (Windows).  JPG extention recommended.
2. Open IrfanView and hit "Edit / Paste"
3. Draw box outline of what part of image you want w/ mouse
4. Hit Edit / Crop
5. Save image to HD ... i.e. D:\Games\Ryzom\Tickets
6. Go to Imugr.com
7. Click on green new Post buton
8. Click "Choose Photo / Video"
9. Browse through your files and select the file you want to upload
10.  Once image appears, right click, select "View Image" and the url window will now include the file extension
11.  Highlight and copy the link
12. Go to your post and toggle on WYSIWYG.
13. Put cursor where you want image and type an Image Name
14. Highlight the Image Name
15. Click the picture icon at right side of menu bar and paste in the url you copied from imugr site.

Yeah 15 steps but it typically takes about 10-12 seconds.  Options:

If you want to draw attention to an area hit "Edit / Show Paint Dialog:

a)  If you want to pout a box / circle / elipse around something, pick a color at bottom ... click the shape or tool you want to use and draw it.
b)  If you want to add text, click the text icon, place the curson at lower left of where you want to start and type away.

There's other, perhaps faster ways but this method seems to be workable for the widest group of people.

I'll piggyback this thread to also recommend a software: Greenshot. It is Windows-only.It binds to the PrtScn key, and when you press it you can select a portion of the screen that you wish to capture.Afterwards you get a context menu asking what you wish to do with the screenshot. There are several options, most notable ones are:
  • Edit in the Greenshot editor (to add text or shapes)
  • Save directly to disk
  • Upload to imgur
If you choose the last one, it will handle the upload automatically and you just have to click on the notification to have the imgur page open in your browser. From there you can copy the link.At least this is my shortest way to post images, 4 steps: press PrtScn, select relevant image, select "Upload" as option, copy link from browser.

Interesting, nice post .... my only complaint here is that Imgur links die after about 3 years.

It used to work that under Windows when you hit PintScreen it place screenshot into clipboard and you can paste (Ctrl+V) it into an image editor (like ms paint that also used to be default part of Windows) and save. Not sure if it still applies.

In various linux destop enviroments PrintScreen is very often binded directly to an app to take screenshots.

For recording linux desktop I am using SimpleScreenRecorder and Screenkey to display (screencast) pressed keys.

It does still apply, though MS Paint is now just Paint.

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.

Uploading screenshots works also on Ryzom-Wiki:

https://atys.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Special:Upload

Or

1. Go to https://chat.ryzom.com/direct/[yourname]
2. Post an image to yourself.
3. Copy&Paste the URL (like this one: https://chat.ryzom.com/file-upload/EKhEixn9YtFbQyJCk/picture.png)

I use shutter for screenshots: https://shutter-project.org/

I prefear to upload in the common wiki :p

Please, do not use RC to store data you wish to find it in the future. Very bad idea, the link will not work after some time.

Unfortunately yes, not sure how it works for you, but my experience is that it ends with infinite loading. Some older tasks link to chat for additional details, but I am usually unable to see it. I am not sure what cause it, maybe too long chat log. Fact is that it made some tasks useless :/.

Btw... NEVER EVER use online services for backup when the service is not made for this! :-)
I mean using rocket-chat like any other image-hoster should be fine, if you keep in mind, that any free image hoster will also delete pictures after time.

Yes, it's better to use https://atys.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Main_Page

(adding in Summary:
  • some text describing the image, and for ex date
  •  with the correct tags [[category:]], at least [[category:User images]] - you can use several tags, for ex [[category:User images]] [[Category:Tribe images]]

I wrote a document about how to make evidence (desktop screenshots and video records).

It is mainly intended for the Test team and I am still working on it but your help is welcome.

I would ass Irfanview as at least here in US it's the mpst popular too, I see used.

I would also suggest including Shadowplay for movies from nVidia ... it's already on 82% of gamer's PCs

Older windows version have built in print screen tools Shift-Prnt Scr.  Also can be saves wherever you want  E:\Ryzom 64\Screenies or E:\Ryzom 64\Tickets in my case

Directions would be good too ... I tried Greenshot, had trouble figuring out what to do.
