IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Trekking: traveling from one region to an other in group, to fend off the dangerous beasts on the road, and to keep the Mektoub Packers alive until destination.

Suggestion: publicize inside the game the custom of trekking, by:
(a)make citizen npc talk about random stuff related to trekking
(a.1) talk about the dangers of trekking (generic)
(a.2) talk about the rewards of trekking (generic)
(a.3) cite a random player who was involved in trekking recently
(a.3.1) "recently [player] of [guild] arrived safely from [region]"
(a.3.2) "[player] of [guild] tried to travel to [region], but perished on the road"
(guild mention is optional, only if player is in a guild)
(a.3.3) "recently [number] homins arrived from foreign lands"
(a.3.4) "recently [number] homins departed for foreign lands"
(a.3.5) "recently a group of [number] departed for a journey, [player] was among them"
(a.3.6) talk about other random stuff and events where characters were involved

To make new players more aware of trekking, and to maybe involve them in creating new traveling groups.
It's also good for adding more lore in the game, and make the citizen npc inside cities more interesting, than being mute walking people.

The related suggestion about balancing trekking and teleporting (version A) is here.

Zeando -- I'm not a fan of either of your other suggestions, but THIS is a very good idea.

It's similar to the dueling fellas in Ranger Camp in Silan.

Reminds me of the old Lakes / Desert water route.

In Lore, the Tryker used to provide the Fyros with water, in exchange for protection. The water route runs through the Forest, but the Matis didn't like the Trykers having the advantage of protection, and so closed the water route.

To bring the lore to life, Ryzom used to run water carrier events, with Homins / Homines coming together to help track the packers from FH to Pyr. Fun treking events :-)

While I think this is unneccessary, I am also not opposed to it.

There is always the option of organizing regular trekking events. I seem to faintly remember some homins/guilds doing so. They picked a day of the week to run treks and whoever was interested/needed a trek could join. While I personally won't do such a thing, if you decided to, I will be happy to tag along as a bodyguard when I have time.

I think, it was an initiative coming from players. Event team supported it for a while ... afaik the one organizing this are no longer around. But you can still take the initiative and make it happened again.

I think it would need to be an ET sponsored event, unless Ryzom wants to trust me with access to control the NPC's :-D

Of course. By taking the initiative I don't mean you will be the one controlling NPC (and there is no need for NPC). But contacting the event team would be a good... they can give you support and everything you need etc

Done.

I sent a message (along with link to the Forum thread) asking if the event team can re-open the water route :-)

Read it twice and I am not sure what you are proposing, but anyone who has been on a trek with me can attest to fun and excitement, and sure death, awe, don't be scared, I'll get you there! :D

I am against removing teleporters and adding timers. And removing game content over all.

However, a Leaderboard with informations on who successfully ended a trip, team size, time til destination and so on seems very attractive.

That's not a bad idea Alees.

There used to be weekly trek's announced in Uni, helping new players reach new places, or just for fun.

Be good to see that brought back, along with a leaderboard [time taken][locations visited][# of party members][# of deaths] etc
