Хорошая работа Ryzom Team. Спасибо за обновление!

#47 Report | Quote[en]

im not sure why the dev team needed to change the icons in the game. and why the idea of an icon was not considered in the redesign.

i am sure that it was a lot of work, done with love. and on there own, each of those illustrations are well done, even though they are much too small to be appreciated.

next to each other they destroy the calm that make up this game. looking at an inventory, much less a guild hall is impossible.

even in the weapon slot it distracts. imagine someone would redesign traffic signs like that.

i was reprimanded in-game for speaking out about it. told to come here, as to not put off newcomers. but newcomers will also be overwhelmed by this.

i can tell you from 20 years experience in interface design, icon design and programming. an icon is there to reduce the need for explanation to not overwhelm, to not distract. it also is not a piece of art to be admired along the way.

there is actually a place for that in-game. the "info" of each item! it still only shows the same image for every single item in the game. that and a title. pointless. if that function would get those illustrations as well as a little more information, it would be great. i could look at it when i want, not when i am forced to.

since this game is also a lot of work to play, i am losing quite a lot now.

and I am not sure why.

so, good bye.

I have no millions either, I have master in craft and harvesting but reselling your "xp. grind craft items" doesn't fill your wallet anymore.
Overseers are still a thing... and not all of them are in cities, so Marauders can still earn a living. You just have to be careful which tribes you deal with.
Victoriacamper
"but but... the newcomers!" - Honestly, the game saw a thousand fold more newcomers when you had to work for things.
The game also saw more newcomers back when the graphics were not quaintly antiquated, when MOBAs did not exist. Correlation is not causation. The simply truth is that 2019 is not 2009. But if you want to blame something irrelevant, you could blame gas prices, global warming, or the decline in writing quality of Game of Thrones over the course of it's 8-season run.
Victoriacamper
"but but... the game is too hard already!!" - Is it really? You can get a master in a week if you have too much free time, 2 weeks if you play in the evenings, 3 weeks if you play only WE and so on. Grind is a vital aspect of the game, and with 63 branches for it... I'm sorry but if you're not the type who enjoys the path, its probably not the game for you, theres always candy crush, do you all complain like this when you run out of lives??
Sure, insult people; that will entice them to stay. Everyone LOVES being called "lazy". Besides, that sort of grinding takes knowledge that many don't have. I've seen folks complain that after ~40 hours of play they could not buy Acid 3. Does the fact that I, a player who has been here for years who already knows mechanics, got an F2P alt past that level in under an hour make his experience invalid?
Victoriacamper
Honestly its exhausting the degree of mimimi going on these days.
I'm sorry but if you're not the type who enjoys the path, its probably not the game for you, theres always candy crush.
Northstar
Finally it's worth noting that with Crystals everyone could get a master in a matter of 4-5 days; Revvy and I used to have a competition who would finish a master faster. That's not good for the long-term viability of the game; as point of fact, many players I know, myself included, are bored of the game because we dont have much to do anymore.
If you are having that sort of competition then the issue is not the easy grind; you were bored well before that.
Northstar
Perhaps the intent here is to slow the game down a bit; with the thought that some real end-game will be added? Might be, might not be; this is a speculation; but in lieu of real end-game, slowing the level progression (with harder to earn sap crystals) and with inventing a daper sink that ultimately achieved its purpose (deprived many people on atys from the wealth they had amassed without providing an easy alternative to earn said wealth) the game actually slowed -down for everyone to some respect.
I average about 1.1 masters per year, so level progression is truly only as fast as you want it to be. Is it really worth stopping people from helping teammates just to try to slow down those who are making a deliberate effort to give in to their impulses? I say that the collateral damage is not worth it.

And dappers were never really the real medium of exchange at any point during the time I've been here; it's been mostly barter or gifting. The dapper sink you mention is something that is of little/no interest to many, and those who want dappers can still craft piles of them with a bit of effort.

Hum.. si on en va par la, alors meme les parties de PvP ne dureront plus 15ans, et seront au final plus interessant..
Doubtful. Those who don't already do PvP will not be 'enticed' into it by holding a gun to their head. You can get them to complain, you can get them to quit Ryzom, but if they are not already doing PvP, then these mechanics changes won't help matters. If you want people more interested in PvP then you can't rely on mechanics to twist their arm; you'll have to show them how much fun it can be.
Also, I've seen a lot of new players come here with interest in PvP then leave the game due to the fact that the grind required to last more than 3 seconds into a fight is rather long. Could you offer me your opinion on how to reconcile the desire for more PvPers with the desire to slow down the grind? To my eyes, it seems.... counter-productive.

*******
Given the number of folks who are mildly happy with this change versus the number who are very unhappy, I think it's clear what needs to happen here to correct course. Those who were bored enough to grind a master in under a week will likely get bored quickly and leave regardless of changes to be worth catering to, so it's not in the best interests of Ryzom long-term to cater to them at the cost of losing people who would stay if some of these changes were corrected, especially the sap crystals.

Tribes are always giving points to Kami or Kara or Faction, that's why it's not really possible. I think 2 years ago it was, masters of goo became marauders .... but there is still no mission for us as far as I know.

My bad. I thought it was one of those "Usually but not always" things that could be tiptoed around.

Hello,

We take note of all your feedback and consider the necessary adjustments.

In parallel, the devs are working on a patch patch, for :
- fix the issue of the zig disappearing after entering an apartment, hall or guild island, as well as other bugs being analyzed;
- increase the rewards in fame and dappers of all nation missions.

There seems to be a lot of stress on the Brotherhood of the Fortunate Gubani in the last year. Yet, those players who have been asking for ways to win the new items without gambling still have not been given an alternate method. All the subsequent holiday events since the upgrades to the wheel have included tokens, and all the event bosses have dropped tokens alone. While I understand the excitement surrounding the new wheel, there needs to be an alternate way to win the prizes for those who do not engage in gambling.

Completely removing the fame and faction points from NH and nerfing the dappers without any warning was a low blow. Especially after stressing the wheel for soo long and encouraging people to spend their dappers. In my opinion, the adjustment to fame, faction points, and dappers should not have been made until the missions had been adjusted.

I do like the new option that allows me to take my zig companion with me when I travel. It’s quite convenient from both a role play stand point and when digging to have my little buddy hold extra picks and tools. Thank you!

Ah, no i was talking about players already doing PvP.
(Maybe the auto translation mess it up, i should have translated it myself).

If you do practice a bit PvP you will understand it is pointless when a) number are equal and b) players know the basics.
It is long... looooooong... because there is no way to be better than your opponents (no skill).

Take two Teams playing full defense, it do result into a match of cristal+enchant endurance, how is that fun?
I still wonder..

Here a point, and that is why i think PvP in Ryzom should be reworked or totally removed.
Remove the open world PvP, make it structured in Arena with actually interesting goal and gameplay to do in team.
And focus all your effort in intensifying the PvE.

Since anyway, you need 15 millions branch to grind before and there is like 3 players that actually do open PvP. Pointless once again.
Better give a template and give the choice of the "build" to a players before entering arena, and you can still play chill with your actual char whenever you want with players in PvE env.

You describe perfectly an icon for some management applications in .NET or some stuff like this, to make shop list in market or so.

I really doubt its 20 years in modern video game art design.

In any case, since you seem skilled and motivated (to write this post) you can submit to the graphic team via RF

New roleplay reward system

A new roleplay reward system is completing the HRP rewards from the Wheel of Fortune. In this patch, we are proposing a first version that will be improved over time.Version 1: Participate in "Kitin Invasion" Dynamic Event to gain Involvement (displayed in advanced stats window). Then, go to see the federal, imperial, royal or dynastic merchant or its Ranger or Marauder equivalent: he/she will propose to use the Involvement won to perform amake a virtual task and you will be paid (with raw materials and sap recharges only for the moment). The next versions will allow you to win roleplay rewards that will be common or specific to each nation, faction or organisation. The kind of events allowing to win these rewards will progressively increase: other dynamic events, officials roleplay events...Please note that the Atys Points won during previous events will be converted to Implication.
When you will participate to dynamic events (like kitin invasion ones) and (later) to official events too, you'll been able to have rewards by talking to the NPCs. With common points with the wheel's rewards, but also specific ones from nations/religions/organizations.

I had similar objections during the testing, just not that nicely said. However I was told it is ok.

It is not for me - quick visual searching for an item in the inventory takes much more time because I have to focus on icons. Currently it is better for me to read item names than use icons for orientation. Icon backgrounds are not helping anymore.

Thank you for that information. Will that include prizes such as the mount, companion, staves, clothing, and such currently only available at the wheel?

I must be one of the few players that likes the new icons, then. Half the problem with the new set is just getting used to the color scheme, I would suggest. I admit I had a bit of an issue for the first 1-2 hours, but then it just became the new "default" in my mind. And now at least with the increased contrast, I can easily identify items.

Now, if only we could get rid of the obligatory rectangles that govern the game windows ... even if I turn background opacity to zero, I can still make out the margins of the inventory/chat/map windows. Be nice if turning it to zero would leave "contents only" on the screen -- but that's a different topic.

As for the rest of the patch, I believe we need to wait at least some 1-2 weeks before we can make a judgment. Personally, I made my "noob money" exclusively from corporal missions, and I never felt that I was restricted in my gameplay. Shoring up the NH source of money is, therefore, not so bad.Of course, I would really like to see more *diverse* ways of making money, because repetitive missions are .. well .. repetitive.

Oh, and I appreciate that we finally got rid of that stupid aggressive warning about Universe chat. This overhaul was very long overdue. If I could make a suggestion though ... maybe stick a "Game Info: " before the description text that appears now in Uni?

I'll post again when I collect more thoughts.

The new backgrounds for the icons are more attractive, and taken individually I like them.

However, 80 or 90 Tryker jewels in my bag in compact mode does get a bit visually overwhelming.

Perhaps the brightness could be lowered just a touch?

I second the brightness being toned down a little. The new icon look isn't worse, it's just different, however, the background does feel a tad too bright and could use some tweaking.

I could not read the quality number on some armors (specially the white ones, i the q110 was in white on a white background, and quality is not in the info windows, or you have to calculate it from the requierements).
