These are my reasons for asking for this.
  • inflicted Stun on a target by inflicting a critical hit on the target's head from Melee Weapon is written in chat
  • inflicted Slow Attack on a target by inflicting a critical hit on the target's arms only is written in chat.
  • inflicted Slow Movement on a target is by inflicting a critical hit on the target's legs from is only written chat.
  • Melee fighters do not know if affliction has ended. Full animation is playing regardless if link lasts one sec or few. Really hard to work with mage sleep skill.
  • Melee fighter do not need to look if mage has link overhead. (Mage does not need to be in sight of camera)

I vote no, seeing everybodys skulls from their bonus/malus window would scare me!

For reals, I cant think why it would be important, perhaps on afflictioners, but active links -window is better for that.

Give something more than "vote on it" for us who are without imagination =D

And im not asking for everyones, just selected target.

Jahuu, for instance :

Melee fighters can't really obviously know if aflliction/neutra spell has linked nor if it has ended already or not (unless they are constantly looking at their mages - which they are not really supposed to)

Gepardina takes the example of the sleep spell - the above instance makes it really hard to work with a sleep spell for a melee fighter, cause they can't know quick enough if target is asleep.
And that's only the PvE consequence; take it to PvP : now melee fighters can't even know which spell was cast on who in addition to what's above. Confusing as hell.

Now cast aside the melee fighter example and let's see from the mage PoV; since i can feel the "self digging pick" comments coming, having to read sys info to know what's happening to your spell is not a matter of skill nor immersion - it's a matter of poor game design. As a mage you are neither supposed to be looking at yourself nor at the chat constantly.

My vote is yes.

EDIT : Honorable mention to the fact that sys info is literally a text hell, especially in a fighting situation.

Yes please!

As Kyohei said: in a chaotic situation, the sys info is close to useless, and anyway it can't show information except about the thing *you* do.

In pvp, for example, you would rather want to know if an enemy homin is still under fear effect, or if they can finally start to fight back. Same for mobs, really.

This doesn't sound like a great complication for the client-side programming, unless the client literally does not have the required information at all times.

Ummm. No. (At least not for PvE)

As a mage I can definitely see if I have formed the link and I can see it break. The information is in the glow right over my head.

As a fighter (and as a mage) I can see the animation of the affliction over the target.

I'm not at all sure what more is needed. Perhaps if Gepardina could give an illustration of what she/he means about what they want to see (mockup from Paint plus a screenie) it would help.

Slow, stun and all, that are inflicted by the melee actions only last a short time, and I fail to see what the knowledge gains you as a melee person because you are generally spamming your blows anyway.

Laoviel -- this would definitely require both client-side and server-side programming. The animations (and any indicator graphics) are client-side, but the state of the opponent is server-side.

Sleep is not an affliction I would worry about because it breaks with the first melee attack.

If the animation has been started, afflictioner has got hit in and will gain experience from the fight. However, the first one is really valid point (like Kyohei too pointed out). I think this is something that should be in the active links window tho, even tho critical hits are not practically links... Well, getting offtopic, thanks for the explanations =)

Lol, I must be immune to text hells as a Linux user =P. Filters for sys.info would be handy tho.. Cant stay on topic today, sorry x)
