Hello you awesome people of Ryzom. I'm thinking of quitting. I have reasons.
*1 Its a unfair situation when your forced to change your password and the only way to do so is to give a whole bunch of personal info.
*2 I love this game, but if it requires more info to change your password
then to sign up it puts people in danger. Life is scary enough info should be given optionally.
*3 I want to support this game but there is no way to pay to subscribe without giving more info."Suprize not everyone uses paypal or steam..."
*4 This game by its very nature has great potiental but if it can't be used in freedom its a pointless waste of my time.
A possible solution allow players to change their info without giving out info by sending a password change link to thier email. You could also add a feature to go after you login where you enter a pincode. This is not my fault or that of the other players in this game. You have punished the guilty party and with it required all players to give their personal info to play a game that has already been compromized. If theres any logic to that let me know I'll be online all day. Also yes I know that all four reasons I gave are just extentions of the same concern.
Please if you agree with this statement [reply soon]

It is possible to do that in clicking on "forgot pasword" on the login page of your account. https://secure.ryzom.com/payment_profile/

I agree with that I don't like to give personnal infos, and most of the time give false ones.

Shepeng your comment is apreciated but has put you in danger. The fact is all you should need to play is a vaild email username password. Thats all that was required to sign up. If you play by the rules respect the other players why should you be punished"A solution must be made"

Kythqaaa thanks for your post. While I still believe its important we fix this issue. Lets try not to stress the gm's. Feel free to post your opinons and even chat with the staff of Ryzom. In any case I don't plan to change my password untill a way is provided that respects the rights of users of ryzom... the best way would be to only require info players are willing to give with a option to give more info. I can understand when it comes to accounts that use a paypal or steam account to pay for features. Those require info for their service which is bad too. Many of us are still ftp. Its not that we don't want to support the game. We love this game but giving out personal info can be dangerous. Also when the CSR's have that info they become responsible for its safety. Which is not a gurrantee that it will remain safe. even the top companys in the world are attacked. millions of costumers info stolen."If you don't have the info your not at risk" The fact we require info to do so much in life adds to the problem" We are at risk every moment why add to it.

Nightrain, if you use this link, nothing will be asked, you will get an email with a link that shows you a page with your new password, that's all.

I'm going to keep playing ryzom. I just get fusterated when I realize that at anytime any of my friends and I can have our accounts under the control of a outside source. For any discomfort my post have brought to the GM's I am sorry. While I still believe in what I said I'm ending my involvement in this post. If you'd like to feel free to post your opinions talk with each other.

If the role is to become a better community then yes this is very important role play. Drama can move us to better ourselves. The emotions I felt many are feeling. Just because you think me over dramatic doesn't give my statement less value. Just as you are intitled to your opinion and yes many posts like this are sure to follow not from just me but the whole community. I wish the best to you all:) Peace and long life to the awesome people of Ryzom. May your journey deep into the roots of Atys be a adventure you make together. I'll be here to help. Looking forward to playing with all of you in the future. Take care Agan
thanks for your comment:)

While I am not much for giving out (truthful) personal info, I also deal with enough places that have that information, many of which are more tempting targets for "black hats" and/or are not as proactive about security, that I consider giving the information needed to have a subscription to a relatively obscure MMO managed by a staff willing to pull all-nighters at the first sign of problems to be a small risk compared to, say, using my bank card at the gas pump.

Just my two dappers worth.

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.
