Cupla weeks back was a lively discussion in Unichat about crafting, over crafting and how many mats per level. I hadn't checked it in about 8 years so while doing daggers, noted what was dug and what I got.

Started at 151 and set Craft Stanza for QL 200; when I hit 160, adjusted stanza to 210 ... when I hit 200, changed stanza to 250.

Here's the results:

Note that there's a hole in there... 231.0 to 231.4 was earned doing fame missions.  That's 26,787 mats so far ... add say 160 for the mission stuff.  Prolly take another week or so to finish.

Also not the the No. of Crafts is not real ... in the table it's the number of mats used divided by the number of mats needed per craft. But, as we all know, craft failures eat mats so it will be of a bit.

And next  ... Pistolas

Nice to see numbers to confirm what "everyone knows". It's not science until there are numbers.

(Or explosions. It's also science if there are explosions. :D )

Well, there were a few folks "asking" in the referenced discussion, so that was the reason for revisiting. But even having done it back then, while the reduction was I think obvious to most veterans, as you said, it's nice to "have the numbers" for goal setting / planning purposes.

Also, the thought hit me of doing a Mats Calculator similar to the BT XP calculator that estimates how many "Mats to Go" to Master ... but just thinking about how big that number is would be to depressing :).

Calculate it as "How many picks to go until Master." The number is smaller. (But it is still depressing.) :D

Of course, then you have to adjust for what type of pick you use. Faction picks have 200 hit points so I only go through half as many as I would if I used regular merchant picks. Halving the number makes it a little less depressing :)

I generally assume that once degrades and failures are taken into account, the actual number of mats is roughly 10% higher, give or take depending on RNG's mood. I also assume one boost every 22-25 crafts despite 5%*20 equalling 100% since the actual equation is (1-(0.95^C)) where C = Number of crafts.
