I had been playing Ryzom untill today's patch. After the patch my computer hung up so I downloaded the ryzom file. I ran the install.exe file and clicked "finish" I got a pop up message telling me "file is not available retty later error code 307". Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi :)

Sorry for the error 307, that's a problem with Sourceforge and I have no idea when it occurs :(

First you need to close Ryzom Installer.

To fix that you can manually download the required files :

- Data : https://sourceforge.net/projects/ryzom/files/installer/ryzom_live _data.7z/download
- 64 bits client : https://sourceforge.net/projects/ryzom/files/installer/ryzom_live _client_win64.7z/download
- 32 bits client : https://sourceforge.net/projects/ryzom/files/installer/ryzom_live _client_win32.7z/download

Data are always required and you need to download the right client :)

Then you move all these 7z files in :

C:\Users\<login>\AppData\Local\Ryzom

And relaunch Ryzom Installer, it should detect files and uncompress them :)

Good luck and tell me if it worked :)

It works, but ! :) always a "but" only using direct3d (under windows xp) with opengl I am getting : "Access Violation exception generated at 0xAF92C, thread attempts to read at 0xAF92C.
The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access." when loading the character.

That's an unexpected crash :( The only way to fix it and it to reproduce it on my computer and running Ryzom in Debug mode.

Please could you try to lower all 3D parameters in "Configure" ? And put special effects to low to disable FXAA and textures quality to low

I downloaded the data file and the client file. I'm not clear what to do next. Your instructions say:

"Then you move all these 7z files in :

C:\Users\<login>\AppData\Local\Ryzom\ryzom_live"

Problem is I don't have a "C:\Users" file on my C drive -- which is the only drive I have.

I do have C:\programs\Ryzom\ryzom_installer_qt_r.exe

but no "ryzom_live" file.

Do I need to run the client that I was told to download above first ( - 32 bits client : https://sourceforge.net/projects/ryzom/files/installer/ryzom_live _client_win32.7z/download), then check if I have a "ryzom_live" file?

Im trying to remember if user appdata is hidden by default in windows its been so dang long. If some oen dont chime in with a fix bef i get home from work catch me in game and will get that part settled at least. I dont have a windows based comp at moment so i cant check to find out. And its early yet for me so yeh theres that. We (ev one in ryzom) will get ya sorted im sure :p

Edit thanks to the helpful people in uni found out it is hidden. Heres how to unhide it

start > control panel > apperance and personalization
select folder options then view tab
under advanced settings select show hidden files folders and drives and click ok.

Now do the rest of the fix above in previous post.

Thanks for the help. I'm running windows xp on my alt computer (use it to heal as I level). Found the hidden files in c: \control panel\folder options-->view. Activated the "show hidden files and folders" option.

Problem is off my C drive I still don't have a "users" folder. Tried rebooting my computer to no avail. Only folders I have are: dell, documents and settings, download, Program Files, programs, stuff on hard drive, windows.

I do not use Windows, however, couldn't you just create that directory, and give it the appropriate permissions?

Just asking....

I don't have anything interesting to say anything here

Just move along....

Under XP, it should be in C:\Documents and Settings\<login>\AppData\Ryzom :)

Oops, I just fixed the patch in the post, it's : C:\Users\<login>\AppData\Local\Ryzom without the ryzom_live folder

The location on my computer for the Ryzom file is C:\Documents and Settings\user name\local settings\Application Data\Ryzom.

moved the 2 files to the Ryzom folder but still didn't work. I don't have a "User name" folder directly off my C drive. I have only the following files off my c drive-- Dell, Documents and Settings, Download, Program Files, Programs, Stuff on hard drive, Windows.

humm. Just noticed its placed another Ryzom folder in this location C:\programs\Ryzom. Tried copying the 2 files to this location too and run the installer. I still get the 307 message.

I tried downloading the Ryzom file from Ryzom's site as well as Sourceforge. Still get the 307 message. I don't need to delete the Ryzom file through control panel because it never shows up-- so nothing to delete.

@Spiritguide, I just created my game folder (x:\jeux\ryzom) , as I always do. I copied the 2 7z files.

I let the data file (ryzom_live_data.7z) untouched and I uncompressed ryzom_live_client_win32.7z on the game directory.

Ryzom is doing the job "in-place".

After that I just lauched the client and everything was almost fine. (except my trouble with opengl).

I launched too the patcher : "ryzom_client_patcher.exe" it updated a lot of files (dunno why ... ) but it is working.

The win32 as an another bug under windows xp, not releasing the threads normally, may be because I am using direct 3d ... who knows!

Anyway thank you Seto for the support and good luck to all, soon we will have a stable version !

PS: do not forget to copy your "save" directory from your old version if you want to get back your maps/macros ...

Please never uncompress the downloaded 7z files manually :(

Both ryzom_live_data.7z and ryzom_live_client_win32.7z must be let untouched

And please never launch ryzom_client_patcher.exe yourself :) That's only a recovery tool in case where you deleted some important files (nobody told you to launch it :p).
