We are pleased to announce the gradual upgrade of all official Ryzom clients from version 2.1 to version 3.0!

A patch, which doesn't need to stop the game server, is planned on October, 7th 2016. It will add an installer that will allow you to move easily from version 2.1 to version 3.0. Later, your client will update automatically with the release of each new version (as it is already the cases for the Steam users who are already using version 3.0).

Version 3.0 will also be available from Ryzom official website and from the Ubuntu software center and Apple AppStore.

Significant enhancements made on v3 clients

Upgrading visual effects

- Better rendering (FXAA, anisotropic filtering, impovement of bloom)
- Rectification and regeneration of all textures
- Optimus support for NVIDIA cards
- Fix of the missing textures for some boots when they were worn with a mage dress

Technical enhancements

- Support of GIF image format
- Support for unicode filenames under Windows
- Fix of the Error 62 at the log to the server. A big thanks to Vojtěch Vobr, a developer of AVG Technologies, who helped us with finding and fixing this error detected by AVG and which was preventing some players from logging into the game.
- Improvement of the connection speed to the server, now 1 second from 10 previously
- Fixed the crash with NVIDIA Quadro graphics cards

Great that the the 3.0 version is now official. For Beta refusniks like me this is good news. This looks like a significant step forward for Ryzom. Many solid improvements to the useability and stability of the game. The list of improvements is very impressive and thanks to all the devs who have obviously been busy :-)

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

Awesome!

My concern as a GNU/Linux packager for this game is getting the compilation process right, is there any updated wiki about compiling Ryzom for GNU/Linux?

«But my belief that miracles have happened in human history is not a mystical belief at all; I believe in them upon human evidences as I do in the discovery of America. Upon this point there is a simple logical fact that only requires to be stated and cleared up. Somehow or other an extraordinary idea has arisen that the disbelievers in miracles consider them coldly and fairly, while believers in miracles accept them only in connection with some dogma. The fact is quite the other way. The believers in miracles accept them (rightly or wrongly) because they have evidence for them. The disbelievers in miracles deny them (rightly or wrongly) because they have a doctrine against them. ...» ~G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy cont. http://tj-markdown-paste.herokuapp.com/posts/354428

Est-ce qu'on a une idée de la date exacte de la réintégration de Ryzom dans la logithèque Ubuntu ? Le 7 octobre ? Plus tard ?

Merci.

There is .deb build files in repo. If you building package for other linux, then you probably want to adapt those to your packaging rules.

Branch for live version is 'compatibility' and beta version is 'compatibility-develop'. Currently beta is not merged into live yet and I do not know when that happens.
