I just changed my OS to Windows 10 Pro (x86).
I tried to install the game, and the installer seemed to work normal.
I started the client and it said that an update is required - ~38 MB to download.
I accepted the update, and then a client restart was required.
From that point onward, every time I start the game - it crashes. I don't even reach the login screen.

// I went through these steps twice, in case I messed up something in the first attempt.
// Until recently I was using a 64 bit Linux Mint. I changed both some computer parts, and the OS.

Is my OS / Processor not supported by this game?
How to install the game properly?

I would attempt Karu's suggestion posted in this topic, to rename or remove the folder Unpack in your Ryzom directory, and see if this helps.

If you keep having trouble, you could also try a newer (development) build of the client. They are available at http://ballisticmystix.net/ see first news posts "Ryzom clients".

I made it.

Here are the steps I went through to make it work:
- installed Ryzom from scratch, without patching.
- made a backup of the whole Ryzom folder.
- copied all of the files of the development build of the client in the folder of Ryzom.
- When ran, the client crashed, saying that "nel_drv_direct3d_win_r.dll" was newer than it was supposed to be. I went to the backup I created, and got that version of the file.
- I ran the game and installed the patch.
- The client got restarted, but was working afterwards.

Ok - now I have another problem.
The game is running way too slow.
I changed all of the graphical settings to low, but it's still so slow that I could not possibly play.

(Example : I click on the chat window's input field. After 3 seconds it would become active and start accepting my input.
As for playing - I wasn't patient enough to wait for my character to start moving.)

Here is the problem. The new client is called "ryzom_client_r.exe" but your shortcut points most likely to the old one at "client_ryzom_rd.exe". Hence the dll errors. It happened to me aswell.

Get the new client again and copy it all over and start the "ryzom_client_r.exe" this time. It should work without an error, showing you a version of v0.12.0-dev.

I started using the .exe you pointed out and replaced the files with the more recent ones.
Next problem - The game fails to start with exception "Missing Required GL extension: GL_ARB_multitexture. Update your driver"

Which driver should I update?

There is new client available from http://ryzom.kervala.net/clients/ (link also in bmsite.net). This will be official client in the future.

Download client file for your platform and unpack it to ryzom directory replacing all the files (make backups).

Then download ryzom_data and unpack it to ryzom/data directory.

If it runs, then you may remove the backuped files.
