IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Hi all,

Just a thought I would like to put out there. If you happen to have your guild hall and apartment in the same building ( Like I do), when you enter, you are given the choice to enter the GH or Apt. It would be nice if you also had that same choice when you leave. To exit, or go to the other room. I know in the grand scheme of things, It's not important, and I know nothing of coding or the difficulties involved in such a change. However, if it could be done easily, I would like it very much! Thanks for listening and any consideration you may give to my idea.

It would be nice to have a means of porting direct from one to the other :)

Heck, while we're at it, can we access both inventories while standing outside the door

Placio, in what way is accessing your apartment storage while standing outside the door at all reasonable?

Crafting from your apartment shelves took some time to implement, but it is very nice, similar to the ability to stand near your meks and craft from the saddlebags. However, you can't reach the shelves when you are outside.

Crafting from the GH storage however, is tricky because there is more than one person who has access, and the potential for using the timing of the signals to create more than one item from the same mats is pretty high.

You are saying that the transactions are not atomic? O_o

I was mostly joking Bittty, but there are already OPs which allow you to access the GH from completely different continents. So yes, on a strict rp basis there would have to be a mechanism that allows inventory to be teleported out of apt and into your hands :P

My thoughts were not intended to make crafting easier, but to make the elevator more like an actual elevator/lift.

I second Meggy's idea. Even in apartment houses without adjacent guild hall (in capitals) one might be able to exit either to the street, or to a neighbour who issued an invitation.

+1 Meggy. Totally unsure why this has happened already xD

I have no idea if they are or not, but given other considerations of programming in Ryzom, I would suspect that there might be exploitable loopholes.

Some time ago I posted the idea to make crafting in GH possible for GL and HO. We discussed possible race condition problems but considered them minor if any. Already, you may craft faster off your apt and meks than the inv is updated for extraction, in a way in a race condition with yourself.

This is client side, but one cannot deceive the server side inv, which indeed updates atomically. Thus you receive an errmsg that the mat is not available anymore. Same would happen with concurrent crafting attempts. Even today HO and GL may try to remove the same mat at a time, eg from GH and OP.

Again folks, this is not about crafting, it's about being able to use the lift like you would and do when you enter, with multiple choices if they are available. Not just exit.

+1 to this.  It seems absurd to have to go out then back in again to go from Apartment to Guild Hall in the same tree/building. And it should be easy to implement.

It's bad luck to be superstitious . . .

When one goes on a journey it is not the scenery that changes, but the traveller

Agreed. And, as said, same goes when you are leaving your apt and have an open invitation in the same house. Technically, both situations should be widely identical. It would add athmosphere making the building tp feeling more like a real lift or staircase.

To be sure, *are* these things even supposed to be located physically in the same place? When you enter a GH or an apartment, you are listed as being in the building's region, but the /who command seems to think it's a region of its own.

The Dyron building is laughably small. I would not presume to say it can hold several guildhalls with thousands of materials and gears and meetings rooms, nevermind dozens of homin apartments.

Realism considerations aside, I do agree that it would be nice to have this addition. +1
