IDEAS FOR RYZOM

We have had beer bottles and whiskey barrels for a while. They were popular when they were first introduced, however it seems to me they faded in popularity quite a bit - barely seeing them these days.

My proposition is that people don't use them -among other reasons- because the results are wildly random. Some phrases make your character seem moody, some are euphoric, some barely make sense.

Therefore, I think it would be a decent idea to implement two changes:

1. Add a stock phrase (with variations) for the moment you're starting. For example, "/em is starting to feel tipsy". Often times, if the character is standing down, it's difficult to tell if they're just being asshats or they're using in-game alcohol.

2. Categorize phrases and let us choose what mood are we in.

For instance, if my character is celebrating a marriage or a war victory, I would only want happy phrases like "/em smiles to himself", "/em starts to dance with no music playing", etc.

Similarly, if I want to play the drunk uncle at the wedding, I would only want stuff like "/em looks around coldly" and such.

I assume categorizing the existing phrases and adding a mood selector in LUA is not extremely difficult..

2.5. Maybe this is already implemented, but race- or faction-specific phrases would also be nice. "/em can hear Ma-Duk whispering", "/em would love to take a swim right now" (for a tryker), etc.

3. Let us add our custom phrases, perhaps via a .txt file residing on the hard-disk.
