While most of personal information was not required in the registering process, it becomes mandatory when trying to modify any field in the "edit personal information" form (account management). Actions like changing the email address can't be done without providing everything else (including gender).

Please recode field requirements or divide edition into separate categories, unless it was intended (?).

Thanks.

I would also send this to support@ryzom.com as a ticket, or post again but in French. Helps speed up the process..

This idea of "I'm offended". Well I've got news for you. I'm offended by a lot of things too. Where do I send my list? Life is offensive. You know what I mean? Just get in touch with your outer adult. (Bill Hicks)

It may have been intended, as a safety measure.  If it is essentially creating a new record (rather than modifying the old one) then the old one remains recoverable in the case of malicious actions.

I don't really understand the problem. How often are you going to modify your account???

Yes you can send a ticket to support@ryzom.com, and of course the used languages in forums and tickets do not mind.

Full name, physical address, what is between your legs, those things are probably needed for the billing profile if you go sub. But for a f2p account you just need an email (registering process as I remember it).

Let's say you want to change your password or update your email address (mine died long ago), and you are forced to give all that without any special reason. It hurts. Many users would lie or simply quit.

It is probably just a poor implementation, like asking for "desired password" in the account login form.

note: Ryzom inherits the old credit card billing dynamics that made adult sites a gold mine. There are better and less aggresive alternatives today. But this is another topic.
