New payment options coming - OFFICIAL NEWS

Dear players,

Due to the closure of PaySpan, it is temporarily impossible to subscribe to Ryzom without a debit/credit card.

In order to overcome this major problem, the Development Team is working on updating Ryzom's payment system in order to add support for PayPal.

Moreover, the upcoming arrival of Ryzom on Steam will allow players to choose between other payment options. Ryzom subscriptions through Steam will be done directly on the Steam platform and not via the Ryzom site. Consequently, any payment option available on Steam will be valid: credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, JCB), PayPal, Visa Electron, PaySafeCard, Sofortüberweisung / DIRECTebanking.com, iDeal, WebMoney.

Important note: these new payment options aren't active yet, but we are doing everything we can in order for them to be active as soon as possible.

We'll keep you informed of the progress of these two addtions and we thank you for your understanding.

Yeah we waiting as well lost some guildies to this debacle. Hope some still wanna return to game once this is fixed. Since for those ppl its like the end of ryzom if from one day to another your char is gone (well not playable)

Après 11 ans sur l'écorce, je suis dans la même galère depuis des mois sans Ryzom. Subitement ma carte bancaire (qui fonctionne partout ailleurs) ne passe plus au niveau de l'organisme de paiement.... bizarre... après plusieurs échanges avec le service client de Ryzom rien n'a pu être fait pour corriger le problème. Donc j'attends .... dépechez vous je crois qu'il y a des gens qui veulent payer, c bête !

what boggles my mind is the amount of time it's taking to set up a paypal. i've used paypal for 15 years, and it only took me about 30 minutes to set one up, and 2 days to verify. not sure what the hold-up could be, but it sure does seam like bad business to not want people to pay you money for something.

I know that would be my number one priority to get my cash flow back AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. who ever thought a company would ever NOT want to make money?

how about we get some facts as to what the hold up is, so we the players can complain to the source of the hold up on behalf of ryzom and WG. if paypal's slowing things down i think they'd get their act together when they start getting e-mails from all the users that want to play, they'll fix it faster.

i love ryzom, but the fact is that if they don't get on the page where the PAYING player's needs should be met, the game's doomed to die, because let's face it, when you take this long to give the customer a way to pay you for something, your sure as hell not going to make any money and it might cost you their business if you take too long to fix something.

i'm sorry that i feel the need to be so harsh, but let's face it my words are felt by many, but only i have the nerve (as an american) to speak my mind openly.

You mean you installed Paypal widgets on a website of yours, and setting everything up (including security, etc) took only 30 minutes?

Creating a simple user account on their website is obviously straightforward, but that's not the hold-up here.

Presumably what's taking time is integrating the payment subsystem in the existing payment profile page. I'm not a web developer, but I'm aware that can take a lot of time :)

Especially considering that they're not only adding Paypal, but creating a system that will allow other payment options to be plugged in more easily....

The Paypal payment option isn't accesible yet through the account page https://secure.ryzom.com/payment_profile/ it's addition should be effective at the beginning of September.

However, in order not to penalize any longer the players who can't subscribe or extend their subscription any more, we've just set up a provisional application which allows to buy one or several months (1, 3, 12) of game through Paypal: http://app.ryzom.com/app_paypal/
No sensitive data goes through this application, Paypal is handling the full transaction and informing us only about it's good conclusion.

It should be noted that, due to the fees charged by Paypal, the monthly price of the game through this option is higher than the one through PaySpan:
1 month: €8.95 /month
3 months: €8.50 /month
1 year: €7.50 /month

Moreover, in order to answer to recurring demands of the players community, we took advantage of this to add the possibility to make a donation to Ryzom through Paypal.
