Not sure where to post this, but felt the coders need to see it.

GIMPs minor forks aren't the only projects I've seen lately get shafted by SF. As much as I used to like them... It gets harder and harder to trust SF downloads of late.

SourceForge continues down the shady path: A hotbed of malware: Another blow for SourceForge as Google discovers 588 pages with malicious software.

Please consider moving the Windows installer for Ryzom away from SourceForge.

Now with all the attention Ryzom is getting, could you please reconsider hosting the standalone installer on a different site? SourceForge lost its credibility long ago.

Honestly, I'm slightly surprised that Kervala doesn't have a standalone installer available for download.

Please give us alternative sites/services :)

- file that can be downloaded from web with normal HTTP(S)
- server that supports resume
- service that provides mirrors to speed up download
- upload possible using SCP or SFTP
- without bandwidth limit (maximum and per month)
- free
- can host file bigger than 1.5 GB

Make a torrent at piratebay ^^ well or kickass torrents

Make a torrent

Torrent needs seeders and download speeds or seeders are not guaranteed.
It works out for a week, a month... then who knows.

Sourceforge (even with its problems) works.

Hello!

#11 Report | Quote[en]

If you can rsync 7 gb of data from the Ryzom's own servers (did that at some point on Ubuntu) - then surely WG can host a copy of the installer (1.5gb) and be seeders for it? Hell, the OLD file on Mininova still has 3 seeders.

Download speed isn't guaranteed from Sourceforge either.

Which one ?

**snip**

Not quite what I meant. While I personally have no issues dealing with *.7z files, not everyone considers dealing with archives to be a trivial task and even some who do just like the convenience of executables.

Then again, until you pointed it out, I was unaware that the setup_661 file existed since it's buried pretty far down the page. That was what I was looking for.

Just renaming that so that it pops up near the top of the page instead of being a single entry buried near the bottom between dozens of versions of ryzom_data_static and ryzom_tools_static_linux32 would be a helpful bit of housekeeping.

Yeah... I think that they shud be broken out by section

1. Compressed files for entire client ... doesn't have to be latest as al recent versions auto-patch

-Linux
-OSC
-Win32
-Win64

2. Self extracting exe file that goes and gets whatever is necessary for esach OS

3. After that list wahetver feels useful tot hose maintaining it ... since they all no auto-patch... having all the different versions I dont see as being of value 9to players) as no matter which one they pick, it will auto update at 1st log in

Hi there :)

All full clients have patch enabled so they should patch to the last client available and I don't need to regenerate them with more recent versions :p

Link to Linux (64 bits) full client is :

http://ryzom.kervala.net/clients/ryzom_client_static_full_linux64 _3.0.0.7578.7z

ryzom_setup_661.exe is the same that could be downloaded from Ryzom homepage and include the last 2.1.0 Windows client (we updated old installer because some people had bugs with it when patching to last version).

I keep all previous versions for debugging purpose : if someone find a new bug, we can try older versions to check from which version it occurred.

And just a warning, these clients are NOT OFFICIAL or STABLE, you're using them at your own risk :)

They are just there for people who know what they are doing and want to help to debug next official clients :)

Thanks :)
