OK, I am a relative newbie, as I have only been on Ryzom for about 15 months. My main caracter is a Heavy Armsman (fight=119; magic=73;crafting=63; and harvesting=53). Now this question may be inappropriate, but how do I get some more dappers, other than 1000-3000 per mini-quest?

The first thing I want is an apartment, but the price is a little too high.
And I also want a mount.

Now, I have been spending my dappers towards better armor and weapons, and that's about it. Now, maybe I part with my existing dappers too readily, but other than using rags for armor, and casting spells without "oven mits", how does everyone else afford these things?

Just asking.

hmm there is several ways:

1. Do the Occupations of either florist, cartographer, toolmaker, or water carrier and turn the items into the New horizons guy. He gives dappers and fame and Faction points (used to buy sap crystals, picks, generic mats, cats). And, I think the higher your fame is with the race you turn in items to pays you more dappers, at least you get more faction points with higher racial fame.

2. learn to craft and do craft missions, the intendants in the small cities pay the most. Some of the missions ask for high lvl crafted items, but as you level up, you can make a lot of dappers. I suggest learning shields first, there is good paying shield missions and you can 'overcraft' armor which pays the highest amount of dappers in the game.

3. There is delivery missions too that pay, as well as 'kill this or that' missions.

Get your guild to craft some gear for you, that is what guilds are for. And also, apartments are only 500k in the smaller cities, in the main cities they are 1 million.

Thank you.
I am in a guild, but I don't take advantage of it yet, I am somewhat stupid (see my signature) in doing this.
Again, thank you.

Most of my dappers come from occupations. A Grade 2 water carrier, florist, toolmaker, or mapmaker can make 36 items a day, which is also the maximum one can turn in to NH. At 36 items a day, one will quickly hit max fame in all four races.

For those who are racially neutral, that means 50 fame in all races, free New Horizons in all four lands, and an income of 180,000 dappers and 1,800 Faction Points a day. For those that are citizens, you will have 100 Fame in that one civilization, which increases the payout to 360,000 dappers and 7,200 Faction Points a day. The dappers are pretty good, and the Faction points are nice in that they can be used to get things like Sap Crystals and XP Catalyzers, which an industrous homin can turn into additional revenue.

As for crafting, there are some Craft missions that are quite lucrative. I started in Fairhaven making small pilles of q17 2h swords for a quick ~20k. As my levels rose, I found more profitable missions. For instance, Dyron has a nice ~227k payout for 7 q160 HA vests. Most crafting missions have modest payouts, but there are a few out there that are great cash cows.

Also, guilds can a great source of gear, which will save you a few dappers. But even friends outside your guild may be willing to help. While few tolerate beggars, sometimes asking nicely works.

Find yourself a sugarmommy to get gear and lend dappers off, works perfect for me.

But like naema said:
1. You can do occupations just grade1 and grade2 from the basic occupations is what you need (feel free to ask around how they work and I'm sure your guild does aswell)
2. Don't buy stuff in stores (ppl like bina should be baned for life for attracting young homins to use their dappers in shops), best gear you can find and most guilds will help any guildy free of charge with some great gear.
3. If you like to dig and craft then craft missions can also make you alot of money (but I'm not the person to help with that)
4. Same for dappers if you are short on them most guilds will help you out with an appartement and packers if they are able to (in times of war they might be short on cash)
5. If all fails sit at the stables and beg

Thank you for your advice. I am taking some notes on these things, and I have started as a toolmaker in Pyr, for now.

PS: getting those Abhaya Wood are a PITA as there are always "things" that want to kill me all of the time, but I am training as a toolmaker.

Toolmaker is the most challenging of the 4 Occupations I mentioned, Water carrier and Cartographer are the easiest. But you can do it! I did already :)

Plus, on the toolmaker Occ., to make it easier, you can have somebody else do the crafting missions for you if you are not much of a crafter, Then they give you the weapons to turn in so you don't have to buy all those crafting plans either.
~Have fun :)

Another tip for toolmaker occ, you can quit and retake the mission until it asks for the item/materials you have to hand in :D

There is a spot of Abhaya not far from the Karavan TP West of Dyron. You will need a q200/250 pick to dig there, but it's agro-free.
