I have been wondering for about a year, since I have joined my second time, can anyone tell me about the people who play Ryzom?

The number of people, the countries from where their accounts are, their age, sex, things like that.

I have no reason other than curiosity.

this will at best only be answered with a best guess as this type of informaion is not (and should not be) public as it could be used for less then honest purposes.

the numbers: best guess would be at the most 1000 people (not toons) and i'm sure that's a very generous number.

countires: well i won't say exactly where, but that i know at least one person in every continent on the planet save for antarctica. (many in north america and europe, some in asia and australia, a couple in south america and africa)

the ages: typically i find that most players are older in ryzom, i know very few players under the age of 21, the average i know seams to be between 25 and 70 (yes there are people that old and older in ryzom)

sex: i really don't see the point in this one but i'd say it's about 49.9% male 49.9% female 0.2% other (i hope you can clearly see the joke here)

things like that: well things like that should not be needed information for anyone that is playing or wants to play ryzom. nor does any of the other questions need to be answered but i did at least try to give you a clue.

just my 2 dappers to a very odd post.

I posted the original questio using a different username

To me, I was wondering if Ryzom will continue. It would suck if Winchgate killed Ryzom due to lack of interest or for another reason. Additionally, I am an oldish fart (50) and I was wondering the kind of other people who play ryzom.

Is there anyone that thinks that Ryzom will "die" in the foressable future?

ryzom has survived many changes, i don't think it's going to die anytime soon.... but like anything we the players will be the last to know.

Our object collision budget only covers around 1% of the sky, and it's a big sky.

I can see the game dying if a HUGE 'Please Wait' comes along that we may never recover from. We call it a Global Killer.

Since Ryzom went open source it effectively became unkillable. If Winchgate ever tire of raking in the mountains of subscription cash (heh heh), someone would take over. It has happened with other MMOs.

Game population is a worry, but it won't kill the game and it does mean more mats for each of us ;-)

Personal details of players IRL is not something anyone should ask in game, but from volunteered info I know there are several older than me (and I'm old) and at least one 10 year old. As to male / female ratio, I suspect that most players are male, but again I know of at least some female players. Its the boys running female toons that worry me.
