Binarabi picked up her new igarra quill pen and dipped it in the hair dye ink found in the Lakes, her desk was piled high with scrolls made from various animals all over Atyss, some of them ripped and in a poor state of repair, some of them recently written ...

Marauder history

The marauders in Guardians of Shadows began by talking with a Powerful Homin (there appears to be no name to find in these scraps of paper). The alliance of these homins was unknown before this - but Suboxide was told that soon a Leader would appear and instructions would be given for these homins to come together and to build a city of their own. This would be for the homins who had been left behind at the Great Swarming, who had been unable to take the Rainbow of escape offered by Elias Tryton. These homins by their nature were distrustful - naturally, they valued strength and ingenuity (the skills they had needed to survive) and their biggest enemy were the Kitin

Guardians of Shadows - or rather Guardians of Jena - helped to build this city, by digging materials and gathering loot from various animals, at that time there was no separate guild of maruaders

Shortly after the city was in place ... or maybe before ... the scraps are difficult to read at this point ... the Marauders were given crystals that they used as teleporters and three homins from my guild found each place for the "teleporters" and mapped them for all to see

There was a battle ... there was a meeting in Prime Roots ... and then Rahael created a guild (his story is written) and Suboxide also created a guild) temporary)

There is no record of excessive violence from these homins in this history, nor even of cruelty ... indeed they continued to move about us all healing and helping as before ...

(Binarabi knew she had to take a rest before she could bring herself to read the other parchments - some of which were still covered in blood ...to be continued)

This idea of "I'm offended". Well I've got news for you. I'm offended by a lot of things too. Where do I send my list? Life is offensive. You know what I mean? Just get in touch with your outer adult. (Bill Hicks)

Picking up her Igara pen and taking another drink of stinga rum, Binarabi sits down to describe the "other" marauders she has researched

Some tales - written on the scrolls, are about marauders who kill, who enchant homins from their guilds and homes and take them to their own city - indoctrinating them with cruel ideas and leaving them to become simple-minded and lost ... anecdotal records show that these homins also halted diggers in Prime Roots, such as Elusive Forest, and demanded money off them ... others just killed diggers with no warning ... these marauders were unknown before the last Great Swarming ... they appear to be the villains talked of elsewhere - but they are not a True Picture of all Maurauders

Maruaders do not believe in following any religion - they do not bend their knees to Ma'Duk or to Jena - in this way they are more like the followers of Tryton. Some marauders are kind towards refugees and are friendly and will engage in talk of Old Days and share their dappers to homins in need ... again - almost like Trytonists who know that Ma'Duk and Jena are lies and who believe homins should unite as one community - sharing with all

As written before - marauders are not by their nature senseless murderers, the fact that some appear to have chosen this path does not mean we should close our hearts to all of them. There are times when all homins, regardless of their chosen alliance have to unite against a common enemy - the kitin, and we should encourage communications without the anger and even rage that has been shown on Atyss

Binarabi lays down her pen and sits thoughtfully ...

#3 Multilingual

A brief history of Marceline according to her brother Fezzik.

She began her life on the mainland, in the walls of Zora. Running around aimlessly and perpetually confused thanks to the potent Thinking Moss available on the black market. Times were hard for Marceline, she had no dappers, she had a blossoming addiction and she didn't know her way around at all.
One day she noticed a flyer pinned to the Zora notice board. It read:

'Come one, come all to the Mayhem party! Free treks available for a limited time only. 46% chance of survival without injury - that's 10% higher than last year!
Post your name on this flyer or send an Izam to Ghuiss to reserve your place.

This seemed like a good idea to Marceline, what did she have to lose? Nothing.

The trek went well and the average survival percentage of Mayhem's treks went up, but Marceline gained something other than a sense of direction on this trek, she also gained a guild.
A homin by the the name of Zorahih invited her to join the guild he was in. Marceline accepted wearily, she had been told about invites of this nature but he seemed nice enough and what did marceline have to lose? That's right. Nothing.

Sadly, that was the last she saw of Ghuiss and his Mayhem treks but strangely, it was also the last time she saw Zorahih for he disappeared, never to be seen again.

The guild Marceline has joined was named Atysian Templars, a fledgling guild based in Thesos, that contained a small number of Homins. The leader was named Lerya, a fiery Fyros Homina with a thirst for truth and a taste for beer.

Marceline enjoyed many moons under Lerya's guidance and the two went on many adventures all over atys. Lerya's teachings were valuable to a young Marceline who learned and honed a number of techniques she still uses to this day. But as so often happens, Homins' mindsets change and the two parted ways. Marceline left the Templars in search of other truths and meanings to life.

Disappointed in the teachings of the Kami and the Karavan and feeling ever more distant, Marceline set about causing a ruckus among the powers that be. She became quit hated in the cities and with the factions, but she was pleased with herself. She no longer accepted their lies as truth and nor did she need to be liked by any government. She was free.

She found herself back in the Witherings where she met some oddly charismatic Homins by the name of Talkirc and Eruv. These two homins were clearly on a different path to what Marceline had seen before. They were more than happy to run around and simply see what they could find.
Together with Talkirc, eruv and two Homins named Ember and Suboxide, Marceline helped form a group called The Cookies. A group of like-minded individuals that met in secret away from their respective guilds and faction lords.

Life went on for years this way, training her skills and helping others. As time passed, Marceline felt the need to have somewhere to call home. She knew Suboxide always spoke highly of his guild and how they were a home for the outcasts and unloved.
Marceline decided to take the plunge and apply to become a member.
She had spoken extensively with Suboxide about an organisation known as The Marauders. Intrigued, she introduced herself the Sage outside of the Marauder camp and spoke with her about the organisation. Liking what she heard, she enlisted the help of a well known Marauder Homina by the name of Seralee. Together they completed the necessary steps for Marceline to gain the trust of other Marauders of Atys.

And so it was, Marceline - a newly accepted Marauder - went about her following days under the protection of a guild full of miscreants, slackers, alcoholics, and thoroughly decent Homins.

#4 [en]

... I woke up, something had happened the kitin onslaught was passing over me, last thing i can remember and the first i can remember is the sight of the rainbows dissapearing. I was left for dead.

For days i wandered in those desolated lands, without knowing much of myself except my name that was inscribed in my weapons. some homins had been left behind like me. i was alone and hungry and met jung-jo liao an old zoraï who refused to leave those lands. he took me in, sheltered me and became my friend and mentor.

He had contacts with the homins who had been left behind and traded materials and food with them, thought he always kept the relatioship distant as we always felt those homins were too full of resentment for being left on those lands.

One day while we were hunting Jung-jo was killed by a group of kirostas, i had to watch from afar how was devoured... days later i suffered and attack by a group of homins, once again i was left for dead...

days later i woke up at the Ranger refugee camp, i reckon that jung-jo only taught me the most basic of things to survive, but at the Ruins of silan i discovered there was much more to discover. there it was the first memory i have from karavans and kamis, maybe i knew it before but all my past was gone.

I came to Zora a few weeks later i lurked near its walls for a few days, till one day i met binarabi....
