22 years before the great swarm of 2483, there was a village in the old lands thriving with success. The men hunted all day, perfecting their combat and the women and children harvested and crafted clothes, tools and other items. Although times unfortunately began to change… Resources and food ran thin. Those who traveled to these lands were hit with the hardships head on, and faced with much adversity. Lilz was one such homin who made his journey there, and this is his story…

He was a young boy raised by his father and mother to be a gentleman to women, respectful to elders, and a fierce warrior to all foes. He was taught that his word is his bond and to never go against that. From birth, Lilz’s father helped train and hone his skills as a warrior. His mother taught him where to harvest the best of crops and how to craft the highest quality items. His father was warned in a vision long ago that a great swarm would come, he attempted to tell others, but he instead was called crazy.. So he made sure his family was prepared for what was ahead… all the other homins would see soon enough.
In 2483, the day of his 22nd birthday, Lilz had become the master of many skills just like his parents trained him to be. He had made his family proud on this day, but other forces were at work.. The sun never shined, the wind was still, and the air was stale..the homins began to feel uneasy at the ominous presence of the unfolding day.
Suddenly, there were shadows of creatures that appeared across the village, some were giant others were small. Alarms sounded throughout the village, the villagers realized these were the creatures Lilz’s father had been warning against all this time. These “kitin” were swarming in fast, the men grabbed their swords and started to combat the creatures, however it was too much… Many began to flee the city in hopes of survival. Some homins were lucky enough to ride the “magical rainbow” as its called to the mainland. Hence meaning, those who followed either the ways of the Kami or ways of the Karavan were teleported to safety. Those in the middle unsure of what they believed, or those without religion were left to die in the lands.
Unfortunately, Lilz had been away from the village foraging away in a distant part of the forest completely oblivious to the horrors happening. Suddenly, he began to see figures in the distance running towards him, and the screams began to echo through the trees. Lilz in a panic raced to the village and back to his home. He opened the door only to find his family on the floor of his house dead with kitin marks fresh on their bodies.

A hot fire burned in the boy turning his once blue eyes-red, his once pale skin-turned tan and tough, and his hair was singed off his head. The smell in the air attracted kitin but the boy was ready. He firmly grasped his fathers sword tight an killed the first Kitin scout that came to kill him. He cut the poison glands off of the creature and marked his arm with a hash mark to signify his mission. More and more came he dodged, parried and evaded many strikes and poisonous gas spat at him, with each one he killed another hash mark was added to his arm..

After the fighting subsided a total of 22 kitin were killed at his hand. On this day Lilz became the warrior/man he knew his father had always wanted him to be. He gathered weapons food and any supplies he thought he would of needed and left to the surrounding forest. As a Matis born he had no trouble seeking shelter and hiding from any homin, kitin or any other predator.
Lilz survived in the wilderness for many months observing the patrols of Kitin and hunting animals still left to eat. One day, he came across a clearing in the forest which had a bunch of food laid out. The spread was tempting, for he hadn’t eaten in days and but uneasiness filled a pit in his stomach. Ignoring the feeling, he sprang for the food and as he took a bite, he felt something wrap around his leg. It was a trap! He was hoisted 10 feet off the ground upside-down. As he struggled, a man appeared and explained he was Melkiar the Black Varinx. He was the leader of the homins left behind now deemed the Marauders. These homins came from every village spanning across every land banning together to survive what was left of the lands.

Melkiar and the hidden guards in the trees cut him down from the tree and hauled him back to their camp. Over the next few days, Lilz began to learn the ways of this new realm. He was astonished at the new combat techniques and the new armor made of natural materials found abundantly in the area. They knew he was fit to be a warrior and happily welcomed him to their ranks. Soon after, a day came for another assault to wipe out the kitins,.. The assault commenced and for every 1 marauder, 24 kitin died. Even with those numbers each side kitin and marauder took heavy losses, but the Marauders still drove deeper into the lair. When they finally arrived at the queens chamber after numerous attacks they thought they defeated the queen. The men began to breath a sigh of relief and Melkiar turned from the seemingly lifeless body of the Queen and yelled “WE ARE VICTORIOUS.” However, the queen in a last ditch effort, sprung her tail fang up and lunged it through his heart. Their fearless leader had been conquered…
Months later… the wounded group of warriors found their way onto the mainland and created a camp. After many nights awake, Lilz had made a decision to leave his new comrades in search of a sanctuary to recover from his own personal losses. After awhile, Lilz had fully regained his strength and vigor. He returned to the camp to see the Marauder nation was thriving and booming, seemed like there was a lot to catch up on.. Will the Marauders thrive and live on more with Lilz back? or cripple into what they were when he left again, it all remains to be seen…

"We won our freedom and will not fold to any homin laws of the New Lands. The only law we recognize is ours." ---Hail Melkiar the Black Varinx---
