Mutual Mac

So I've spent some time over a few days and can't get the game to launch.

10.8.5 on a MacBook Air, i7/8GB, TB Display.

Can log on, created a character, but when actually launching the game I get an error/crash.

I've read all the Mac problem threads several times. there is no Ryzom directory in my user Library folder (or the global Library folder either) so nothing to edit. I have deleted the app and reinstalled from the app store, no change.

Any ideas?

Ok, so the Mac App is a package, I opened and found client_default.cfg, Make the changes here?

yep. though that never worked for me..i had to do a work-around. all documented in moany style on the forums.. i was going to post a link to the site i used for the work-around but it appears that the link is dead :(
i'm not too sure what to suggest now as they way i did it was to install an older version of the fyzom client and run a manual upgrade.
i didn't update my mac to mavericks for fear of having to do it all again... i know some users had issues after mavericks was downloaded so hopefully some of them will comment here and lend you a hand.

i find it wierd how some people have a tonne of problems with their mac and ryzom relationship yet others have the perfect marriage.

Thanks, you'd think that this would be documented better.

yeah, trouble is nobody seems to know the root cause of the problem. the same issues have been fixed with different 'fixes' - which makes no sense to me.
i tried to document what i was doing when i was doing it (back when it happened) but i was going to and from that many websites, i got completely lost.
i'm kinda annoyed that my fix is now a dead link but i guess whoever owned that website has moved on.

editing the client.cfg file didn't work for me.. no idea why though i probably did it wrong.
i run ryzom v2.0.0 at the moment... somewhat older than the current version everyone else uses. i, like you, am running os 10.8.5  but mountain lion rather than mavericks.

when you load up the game, on the log-in screen, switch the options at the bottom to "windowed" and "custom" - that's the only way i can log in... set them to anything else and it's game over for me.

So if you're running an older version of the mac app, that's probably why you're stuck with windowed mode, Apple changed the way the screen was 'captured' for full screen some time ago.

As for me, don't think I'll invest the time in this, have ESO downloading and will see if their support is any better.

Thanks for the replies though.

Hmm, I have the new Mac update Mavericks and Ryzom works fine as long as I don't have sound on. :)
The only thing I can think of that's wrong is using it on a MacBook air. I have a pro so it can't handle a bit more. -- but then again I'm no expert.

no worries, grethic. yeah that may be why i'm stuck in windowed.. though it doesn't bother me :)

hope you have more luck with ESO.
ryzom seems to be only for the mac user with an already established addiction. someone that is willing to persevere with all the trials and tribulations that macs bring to the game.

there is an irc chat channel thingy dedicated to support for this game here ircs://chat.freenode.net/ryzomsupport i think. i haven't used it myself as i'm too lazy and jaded ;)
