TECHNICAL SUPPORT / WEB APPs BUGS

#1 Report | Quote[en]

In recent times I have done many of the missions and rites as I enjoy this aspect of the game a lot. Overall I think that most of them have quite good flavor and ideas behind them.

Occasionally I came accross something that was not working as intended and often I read questions by confused players in the chat about a mission or rite where always the apparently widely known answer was given that this bug has been present for many years.
With the very much appreciated effort of the dev team coming out of the shadows now, I think fixing these would be highly valued improvement and in most cases a task performed in a few minutes.

Just one example to show what I mean: The first city welcomer mission in Fairhaven "The Kitins are back" has a bug after talking to Mac'Cautty Deppan: The mission window says "Find and target ''. So for a new player it might not be obvious what needs to be done here.

Feel free to post similar issues below and thus collect them for the devs in one thread.

This would be a good idea (as would removing all the mission choices for "spot the Goo-contaminated xxx").

However, the particular one that you cite shows a "." when there are none of the Vulgar Kipees around because some other player has killed them all. If they haven't, it comes up properly as "Vulgar Kipee". The solution to the problem is not simply a matter of changing missing text as it is programming a response that accounts for the fact that they are missing and gives the answer that you have to kill all the Vigorous Kipees in the cave in order for the Vulgar ones to respawn.

Ah, I see, Bitty - still, why shouldn't the quick solution be to simply change the text to spell out "Find and target a Vulgar Kipee in such and such place" regardless of the underlying mission mechanics or vulgar kipee availability? It would definitely improve things.

Else just separate the vulgar guy to respawn independently of the other Kipee bunch.

Well the first one would then send them hunting for Kipees that won't be in the place expected. That, to my mind would be worse than the ".", which at least immediately suggests there is a problem.

The second would be the obvious change, and would work, but that would be change to the base code for the region, and my understanding is that changes to the base code are tricky because of the behavioral cross-linking of the AI.

Bitty are sure that's the case of a missing mob? because there are a lot of other missions that periodically have the exact same problem.

One I recently had was "I need to know if there are kitins in the void" the quest giver said "find any kipee, kipesta and kincher"

The quest said:
find any .
find any .
find any .

even though there were two kipesta floating behind the NPC.

Or one in zora where you have to kill three types of kipee. Same problem.

I'm sure about the one in FH. The other one, I dunno.
