IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Should Harvesting Picks purchased with National faction points be freely tradeable?
Yes. Free trade is a right of all homins.

Yes. Not for roleplay reasons, but simply because people would like to do so.

No. It makes no sense that people with no National Fame Points should be able to use a special National pick.

No. It is a bad idea to allow such freedom of trade.

Maybe. How does this compare to other Nationally famed trade goods?

Yes. But only if the recipient has positive Fame with the Nation in question.

It is currently not possible to trade or exchange the Faction (Nation) picks that are purchased with National fame points. It is unclear to me why this should be so, given that the other goods available from the National (fame) merchants are easily (and often) transferred.

Any argument based on National fame of the wielder is irrelevant since neutral players can purchase and use these tools without significant fame requirements.

Therefore, since the flagging of the products as to freedom of exchange is clearly within the available options of the game system, I ask that it be changed so that I can use my fame points to buy picks for my guildies (or anyone else I choose to gift them to).

Comment?

I assume it's a work-around to block people from simply creating nation-aligned alts and using those to get the goodies 3 times faster (or 6 with two alts etc).

If you want a roleplay reason, just assume those picks are fashioned specifically for the buyer, considering how usually you can't add hp or focus boosts on such tools. This is different from catalyzers or crystals, they have no extra qualities and are meant for any person's consumption.

Personally I'm at a loss as to why gen mats are not tradeable (except the argument in the first paragraph), so I support unlocking the trade of both mats and picks.

yep, i'll agree. gen mats and those picks should be tradable.. i see no real reason why they should not be.
if i have a fancy fyros one but want a snazzy zorai one, why should i not be allowed to do a straight swap?

I vote no. I don't want those nasty Matis getting their hands on Zorai picks.

I had thought that the faction merchant sold generic mats as well which are untradable?

yeah they do - not tradable at all... i guess there's no real reason to trade them though, other than the help people in need out.

As a homin, I don't like it myself. As a player, I'm content with the way it is. As humans we often strive to change the game so that anybody can do everything in game.

But it is good that Ryzom does not allow this for all aspects. Ryzom is already the most open game I know of, in the sense that one homin can do almost anything. Fame is the only limit to some game content, and even fame can be changed over time.

I voted no.

Any arguments about free trade are irrelevant. Other picks can be traded but these picks have special attributes. They should only be available to players with enough Faction Points for their nation or civ.

In which case, the rangers and marauders should really get their own experts to fashion such picks ;)

---

#11 [en]

Why?
Going marauder is a wilful choice, they know what they resign with the rite.
Rangers can already buy the nation picks.

As for trading the civ picks, i think it would open up the chance for people to exploit the faction points system as already mentioned before, hence why i voted no.

for once i really don't know what to say, it does seam crazy that they can't be traded because a hominist with 50 fame in all civ's can get all 4 picks anyway, just like a toon with 1 fame in all civ's can get all 4 picks, fame is not the limiting factor to buying them, just the points, so if someone wants to waste points to trade the pick, why not let them. (the boost's are not so powerful that they're game braking to have, or they wouldn't be in game at all)

i could also wonder why gen mat's are not tradeable, but that makes a little more since to me since they can be used to fill the void in any crafting recipe, though i would like to see higher grade gen mat's buyable, meaning excellent and supreme, though limited in quantity and with a cool down between buys)

just my two cents, and at this time i've not voted, though i agree with some limits to what's tradeable, i don't think the faction picks should fall under that.
