One small suggestion to increase op wars, (maybe i should post it under ideas..),
but drastically reduce the cost of declaring and make it cheap, and you will have op wars galore i think. Just a thought.

I'm not into OP wars at all right now, and I'm guildless, and my highest crafting is at 150, but a million Dappers for declaring war would not stop me from doing so. I would currently need about 7 hours realtime to earn that amount of money.

If this would be a separate idea I'd possibly argue to change the pricing in favour of doing so for low level players for low level outposts. But since I have not the slightest idea of how to ensure that Q50 outposts are fought over by lower level players, I just stop here and try to not derail this thread any further.

OPs have much less value than they used to. OP cats are worthless now due to subs having perma-cats. Having OP mats for gear is really only needed if you are PvP oriented. The same is mostly true of sup mats but that's another discussion. All this being true, where is the real incentive to fight over OPs? Give OPs some greater value and there will be more desire to own them.

In my opinion, at least 200 and 250 OPs have more value than before, because mats below 250/200 such as greslin, armilo, and to some extent also rubbarn have lost much of their value, there are more players than before, and thus much less mats to get. Anyway, there is not more competition about the higher level OPs.

The notion that OP mats are only for the PvP oriented is plain wrong. The mats have value in the hands of crafters, not fighters, and every crafter, if not extreme pacifist or anti-PvP, will craft for those who want crafted items not asking them to use in PvP or PvE only. Boosted focus armor and jewels are for diggers, not PvP fighters, same with picks.

Also, all stuff good in PvP is also good in PvE. The only difference is that you may negotiate with sportive PvP opponents to have an encounter with numbers, weapons and armor of same level and strength, while I cannot convince KP, Vorax, or packs of Jugula likewise. So there is no really valid argument that "the best stuff is for PvP" (I am aware and agree that all PvP fighters love to have the best stuff and want them all the best for, but that is a different story).

I am not sure how to overcome stagnation in OP wars, others have written a lot, a real solution does not seem to be at hand.

As to the original suggestion, a new temple war had been announced long ago. Taking in account the disequilibrium between the factions, I am not sure whether it would be a good idea at the moment. But I do not see how to change faction strength and numbers.

Simple! People that don't want to do faction role play should go neutral. *grin*

Anyway +1 Daomei, I find your post insightful.

Like I touched upon in my last post, a lot of people got "burned out" for a number of reasons and during the period where there were a great deal of back to back OP battles, a lot of people left.

I would say overall that a lot of Kara masters have left the game when I compare it to those master who remain from Ari. Right now, I believe the main issue is that the rest of us who remained realistically need to work on a lot of skills to be able to match the Kami (who I feel have retained more master players).

And that is what I believe the situation to be at the moment.

I don't feel it has anything to do with the "value" of the OP decreasing. Armageddons hold a Q100 OP and I would hate to lose it just as much. To me, ownership of the OPs doesn't just provide your guild with the cats/OP mats (of which I feel cats are still very important if you have low lever players in guild - in fact being a HO, I have to find multiple source for cats) but is ask a symbol of your status and who can say they don't feel pride about what they own?

The OP mats have just as much relevance if you want to provide your guild with the best gear possibly, from Q50 to Q250.

I like Irfidel's idea about the lower Q OP's costing less to declare, but it would still be a faction vs faction thing I believe which would not help to your idea of lower level players fighting over them, especially where there are some guilds who have a mixture of level players.

Topic moved to Events (OOC) section since it is an OOC discussion of RP amongst other.
